Gaffney's play changes the face of the offense

That second pass to CJ was PI about eight times along his route.

Part of me is happy that the Pats wideouts aren't whiny bytches who get up and look around for the flag (Bears WRs...), but the truth is, the referee is a weak species, and if they see a wideout bytch and moan, they will cave to the enormous peer pressure. CJ got flat out mugged on that play.

I agree about CJ being mugged and also agree that he made a possibly game saving play (at the time) in preventing the INT from Brady's underthrown pass. THAT's a contribution.

For the most part, CJ has only played that old BJ role of the long bomb. I hope he gets more involved in the route running.

Gaffney looks fantastic as a slot guy. Decent as a #2 which is what we needed. (presuming Headlights is our #1)

Gaffney's arrival , (19 catches for the season and 8 for 103 in the Playoffs)now presents problems to the DCs we face. For most of the season the Pats have had only one or two WR in Reche and a fading Troy.

They have had to make up for it by throwing to RBs, TEs and scheming. But any good Defense can take a way any single player including Jerry Rice, and while I like reche and Troy neither is Anywhere near Jerry Rice. It gets a whole lot more difficult for opponents, when the Pats REALLY CAN throw it to the guy who is open when realistically they all, (except CJ), are capable of catching it.

The great thing about Gaffney is that the Pats were smart enough to sign him for two years for the minimum. Now he will be aclimated to our offense next season and be playing for nothing.

I think you are right Joe. What an impressive game. He and Caldwell are doing very well now that they settled down.

Let's not forget about CJ today. He made some big plays. What??? He didn't catch the ball!!! Very true, however Brady used CJ to force the Jets to get back to the blitz. When the Jest laid off the blitz Brady went long three times which forced the Jest to not sit back and wait. Brady wanted the blitz to come tso he could pick it apart just like they did in practice all week. CJ allowed for this to happen.

Good call. Jackson make a physical play and broke up what looked like an interception early in the game.
