It might be a little forced. But still not sudden it was building up to this point and it was obvious to everyone.

Were the Bears or Redskins not forced into their decisions?
I think a little of this decision to play maye may be in part to how well williams and jayden danials playing so well and making a difference. The fo, kraft and mayo ant to wee what their guy can do.

You'd rather see brissette? Some people just can't be happy
Posters want to see Maye when the front offense builds an All Pro O-line and has an elite WR to throw to.

This isn't Madden football people.

If dealing with Brissett for most of the season is the price to develop Maye and give him the best chance to succeed, then yes that's a fair price to pay.

Frankly, bad franchises do this all the time. They draft a QB that everyone understands needs some time to develop and can't start right away. They have some bad games knowing the current starter is a placeholder. Fans get angry. Owner and coach get scared. They rush out the young guy prematurely. He's a pick me up for like 2 games or so. Then the novelty is off and fans slowly start blaming them. Guy gets a ton of blame and people decide he's just not the guy. He loses confidence and then the team has to rinse and repeat.

Think Browns, think Jets,

Dealing with Brissett now is worth compromising a guy we want to be the QB for the next 10-15 years.

I hope it works out. I strongly suspect it won't. Would be happy to be proven wrong. But I think a lot of the people calling for Brissett now are the same people who couldn't handle Cam and wanted Stidham, then couldn't handle Mac and wanted Zappe, and sometime next year will be the same people that have some magical guy on the bench that they think the team "HAS" to put out there because it can't be worse.

Desperation, no plan, blah, blah, blah. How about some excitement for our rookie QB?

I think this will be the first time we'll have the same O-line 2 weeks in a row and its a home game.

The Texans defense is ranked in the middle of the pack.

And we won't be wearing the hideous blue uniforms.

So we should piss away away an entire season with Brissett who can can't hit the Broad side of a barn?? The Fans deserve better.

You right. It’s not Madden. BUT caving into what the fans are clamoring for, or a meddling soon to be senile owner wants, won’t get us any further ahead. Tom isn’t walking through those doors. Give the kid a year pass. Get the draft picks. Try get some free agents next year. Westher this storm. We are at the bottom of the league. Maye will absolutely not move the needle. Not yet. Don’t damage what could be a future. That entails both qb and future draft picks. What is the point of panicking when we were destined to suck this year anyways ?

Would You rather watch Maye mess up by learning on the fly or watch the ineffective Brissett on how NOT! to play QB?? I'm going with the former.

Easy ? We kinda suck right now
Assuming they move a healthy Sow back in at guard the line is probably in the best shape of 2024. The competition they face going forward is bad, at least defensively. I don't expect them to win too much, but at least it might keep Maye from getting hurt.

Time will tell if this is the right move.

Don’t forget savior Milton is next man up.
people are going to be really disappointed when Milton actually gets playing time.

I'd rather what is better for Maye's development.

If I recall, you were screaming for Zappe last year because he "couldn't be worse than Mac". Then he was.

Zappe played a lot better when it's all said and done.

Might being the operative word there …

About two weeks ago, AVP said Maye's best best learning was from observing vs. playing. That suggests to me he wasn't ready and they had a plan for him. So it's hard to believe that plan culminated with him starting vs. Houston. It also is difficult for me to believe he'd be playing had Polk's foot landed inbounds and the Pats beat Miami. But Mayo says Drake gives them the best chance to win, so we'll find out if he outplays Jacoby where it counts.
I get you fully. The thing is we as fans have zero idea what they see at practice. Fairly certain drakes progressed enough to be ready. The team has to stick to what they said they’d do (let jalopy start and mentor until drakes ready). If they didn’t do their plan and changed things like starting him game 1, they’d look like they don’t know what they’re doing (more so than they already do). They went through with their plan and now it’s time. OL is still bad but was far worse the previous games. Drakes physical ability will help the **** OL play. Him not being capt check down jalopy will be huge I hope. And I think us worrying so much about health isn’t as warranted as we think. Sure for a qb it always is but dude played with a **** OL before. Dude may know something about it and will adapt. This will definitely be a testing/defining game. He wrecks Houston and he is the second coming. He throws for less than jalopy and the team ruined him…

Nitpick much SB??

No he didn't. Had the same trajectory as Mac. his best game was worse than Mac's best, he slowly declined, his worst game was worse than Macs's. After like one game he found out he was over his skiis and quickly lost confidence and panicked.
