Former NFL player accused of rape

I used to love this guy and he is one of my all time favorite Patriots RBs but if this is true then I might have to redo my thinking.. at least viewing John as a human

Hope this isn't true, if it is true he need to go to jail for a loooooonggggggg time.

First Villa and now Stephens in the past year or so .. I hope former Patriot players doing horrible criminal acts with their post-NFL life comes to an end,I hate to see anyone or anything related to this team tarnished in any way - past OR present.

If memory serves me correctly, Stephens premature exit from the Patriots was caused by alleged indiscretions with some teammates' wives and/or girlfriends. That's not rumor-mongering. Just relating what "allegedly" occurred.

The comments following the article indicate that he is a two time sex offender who has had issues with failing to register.. no idea if it true or not.

if its true then i hope he gets raped every day in jail!!!:spygate:

I told him to stop hanging around with Dave Meggett.

It's true.

Boston Phoenix > Sports > Hands of stone It's buried in the middle of the article somewhere.

Here is what happened..

he got arrested in 1994 for carrying a concealed weapon in Florida, a run-of-the-mill Desert Eagle .50-cal handgun-tucked-on-the-floorboard arrest. Earlier that same year, there was a rape charge involving a woman in a Kansas City hotel (in fact, this charge led to his release from his last team, the Chiefs). He was convicted of sexual assault (rather than the original charge of rape) in 1996, and was required to serve five years’ probation, as well as register as a sex offender. That leads us to today: in 2007, Stephens became a fugitive when he failed to update his sex-offender registration with authorities in East Texas and western Louisiana. But finally, toward the middle of December, he was apprehended in Greenwood, Louisiana, and now will face failure-to-register charges in the Lone Star state.

I can confirm that this sub-human trash is a rapist. I was one of his rape victims on January 8th, 1994. I will never forget that day as long as I live. He raped the second woman in Aug. 1994. He raped two women and walked on a lesser charge on 5 years probation. He fled as a fugitive to Florida before he was sentenced and was picked up working as a coach for an elementary school. The only gratification I have is that he has to register as a sex offender where ever he goes. It doesn't wipe out my nightmares, it never will.

Isn't he dead?

Did you all not know that he raped another woman in Sept 2009 while he was out on bond? Then died in a car crash awaiting trial. For the first time I can at least walk out the door and not have to look over my shoulder.

How did he only 5 years probation? That can't be justified.

Wow. I really don't know how you go about doing such evil.

I think the more time passes, the more it becomes clear that we should not view professional athletes as more than that - pros who play sports. Many that we cheer for do not end up being the type of individual that deserves cheers in real life. This is obviously an extreme example of that.

IF you are legitimate, we sympathize with your tragedy. Just the same, this is hardly the place for you to vent about a dead man and I find it odd that you apparently registered here for that very purpose. Men who rape are sick individuals who should be removed from society so they no longer are a threat. But they are not "subhuman" and do not deserve "to be raped everyday in prison" as some here suggest. Regardless, Stephens died in Keithville, La. on Sept. 1 in a one-car accident.

Mods, please lock this thread. And Stargazier777, please go away.
