1976- Mike Haynes, Pete Brock, Tim Fox.

1977-Raymond Clayborn and Stanley Morgan.

Wow!

Those two drafts back to back.

I think the CB position was undervalued back then.
IIRC they had three first round picks in a few of those drafts, shrewd trades gave them draft capital.

I’m not a big fan of Kraft I have to give him all the credit in the world for firing Mayo when you know he hated having to do it, and convincing Vrabel to take over this team.

I don't think Vrabel needed any convincing. Anyone who saw his halftime Patriots Hall of Fame speech at Gillette knew his heart was with Foxboro. Hell, that was on a Sunday mid-season when he still was coaching Tennessee and it pissed off the Titans owner.

He should have been named Pats HC when BB left but apparently the ill-advised Mayo contract clause got in the way.

That’s what the Belichick thread is for; it’s still firing on all cylinders….

My Dude, Bunny is gonna drop a pic on the gram of BB's painted toes and we'll be off to another 50 pages. That girl is gonna be like herpes here at PF, the gift that just keeps on givin'

Awesome watch, can’t wait for the next one.

In his book he called her his "muse" in his acknowledgements which is amusing even more so if the definition of muse was: my little blue pill.

Can Williams was like the 4th most important talent evaluator in the org so that’s a big loss

Elliot owned the logistics and seemed to me to make the final call on every pick with input from vrabel and Ryan. He was talking to every other org about trades. Groh was doing very little.

Wolf seemed like the only comfortable one.

As far as vrabel as head coach. Everything I’ve seen makes me like it more and more.

I may be wrong but I saw it differently on episode 1 of Forged in Foxboro, to me it seemed like every decision such as player pick or trade up or down he looked to Cowden as did Vrabel a few times, Vrabel would look at Cowden and asked him what do you think.

Releasing one episode and then hanging us to dry for weeks before the next pisses me off at an irrational level

The biggest difference between the 24 and 25 drafts was clarity. Wolf and the scouts had been scouting and evaluating the prospect pool for about 15 months. When Vrabel and Co. came in he clearly identified the kinds of players physically, athletically, mentally, and in terms of playing demeanor he wanted to build the team with. Then they addressed as many needs as they could bringing those kinds of players in. Last to come was the draft, and once again Vrabel made it clear what kinds of players he wanted, and they seemed to have set their board focused on those types of players. IMO Wolf’s biggest contribution was to lay out who was going to go where. Which enabled them to target their guys where they wanted to get them, but Vrabel made the final call on each player.

That’s unfortunately how it goes at this point in the off-season. They need time to accrue enough content to fill an entire episode

I don't think anyone would've complained if they had broken this one up into an episode on re-introducing Vrabel et al., and then a second one on the draft.
