Realistically there were no viable FA in 2024.. so Wolf did the right thing in extension to thier own guys. Also it a good thing we missed out on Ridley and ayuik.. all in all we are heading in a much better direction under Vrabel. I'm happy where the team is right now and we as fans should all be happy and look forward to a play off Bound season.I feel the exact same way about you One. You are an intelligent poster that I usually agree with, but when it comes to Wolf you throw reason out the window. I definitely think Wolf benefitted by having Vrabel and Cowden come in, and I think the way they all worked together has turned the team around in a hurry, but I also think Wolf installed a player evaluation system that really helped them. And if he had gone and blown all their money in the ****ty free agency of 2024 they never would have had the free agency they had this offseason.
I’m not an Elliott Wolf super fan, I just think people should get credit when it’s due, and blame when it’s due. And where this argument really started was with people trying to blame Wolf for Belichick’s mistakes. I spent years defending Belichick, but also think he did a ****ty job with the team after Brady left, and that’s on him, not Wolf. And if the 2024 draft class ends up sucking and getting released then that’s on Wolf, not those underneath him.
And Wolf definitely gave Vrabel and Cowden credit for their UDFA success this year, and took the blame for doing a bad job with it in 24’, and that’s what intelligent people generally do, take the blame for their mistakes and learn from them.
@irishfanaticThis is to a large degree just my personal situation with my fandom, but what the hell I will share anyhow. Of all my relatives living in Boston, I had two brothers in law who I kept constant contact with on all things Patriots since the mid 90's.
One sadly passed in 2016 to Big C and only in his fifties. Last year, the second guy also passed to the same ****er of a disease. He was also in his fifties. With that, and the disastrous Mayo experience, I must say my interest was waning somewhat.
However, No 50 has rekindled my interest and I shall dutifully follow whilst chatting to my lost buddies.
Thought I would like to share, as although a lurker, I have been here a long time.
As always, GO PATS
Why do you think Wolf installed a player evaluation system of value? Boston sports reporters puff pieces? There is no evidence that a evaluation system installed by Wolf added any value. What is your source for that conjecture?
There were a number of successful FAs in 2024 that have been mentioned, advocated for, and subsequently worked out well in 2024. You simply remark "off the cuff" that it was a ****ty free agency.
What credit is due? Wolf admits (I don't know why) that the draft and UDFA process was disorganized in 2024 and thanks to Vrabel and Cowden it was more organized in 2025. The results prove that Wolf is telling the truth. What credit is due for a disorganized and lousy draft and UDFA process in 2024 that was only corrected by Vrabel and Cowden in 2025?
Don't start the BB mistakes stuff. You don't want BB's record tainting Wolf? Another BB hater?
The 2023 draft class was good, the 2024 draft class sucks (we don't have to wait to see that). The disorganization in 2024 is so obvious to everyone that Wolf admitted it too. You seem to be the only person denying it and saying we still have to wait (even Wolf does not think we have to wait to admit 2024 was highly disorganised and disappointing).
And intelligent people also believe others when they admit their failures. Wolf admits he was disorganized and you state we still have to wait and see how the 2024 draft works out.
Thank you @AQPE for your kind words. My wish to post such a message was to honour the two lads on this site, relative to their Patriots fandom. Shout out to those you have left an acknowledgement on my original message, much appreciated guys.@irishfanatic
Your record in our picks contest - over several years time - shows your understanding of things in the NFL is elite. Keep posting, you are on the cusp of a posting milestone. Cheers!
Were you born and raised in Maine? One. I’m done arguing with you about this. There is no point in it when you are simply going to reject everything out of hand. It took me 3 seconds to find numerous articles, including one by Ian discussing the change to Wolf’s grading system, but you will obviously throw them out as “ puff pieces.” Nothing I say is going to change your mind, and nothing you say is going to change mine, so imo the discussion is over. If you want to continue the argument you will have to find someone else to have it with.
I agree but Vrabel at +850 compared to most others at twice that just doesn't seem like a good pot odds. But I don't usually like the pot odds on most sports bets anyway. Not that I'm good at poker or horse racing but I generally save my gambling budget for those.

Really? Where?
Wow, all this negativity. I would expect this from a douche like Felger, not these guys. Anyway I am thankful that this way filmed in the first place; it gives us a bit of insight into the inner workings of the Patriots and makes me thankful that Vrabel has the job. He is a great orator and leader.just heard Zolak and Bertrand talking about this documentary - even they're calling it out for being Elliot Wolf propaganda....
At your local hillbillie location in anywhere of backwoods of America.Really? Where?
Really? Where?
Training camp is not too far off.. that's when everything is worth watching. Guys are fighting for jobs, positions. Right now it's about play install, formations and route concepts.. can't really go off anything watching guys in shorts and T shirts. We're in the dead zone between the draft and the actual work developing and evaluating the new team, so we are sort of desperate for football content. I watched most of the video. Vrabel's relentless coachspeak and all the players' predictable gridiron boilerplate got a little tedious, but it's nice to have something to tide us over. Heck, I've even found myself discussing the Celtics/NBA and *****ing about GIF's; and I neither care nor know anything about either. It'll be nice when we can get back to our usual pissing contests on football stuff. That's where the real fun is.
Exactly. Bill's lousy .426 W-L record post Brady speaks for itself and he has only himself to blame for that. Not Wolf or anyone else. Numbers don't lie. It is what it is.I spent years defending Belichick, but also think he did a ****ty job with the team after Brady left, and that’s on him, not Wolf.
