Did anyone listen to Goodell s interview on the Mike& Mike show?
He flat out claimed the league he'd nothing to do with their suspension!

Robert should just have J&M show up and work. Who is going to stop them?
If Roger states that the NFL has nothing to do with their suspension, why should they ask permission?

Great book and good film.

I never saw the film as I try to avoid John Travolta, but the book was awesome. Though it was non-fiction, I was on the edge of my seat. (I was a bit too young to remember the news reports at the time.)

From what I've read, it's a matter of wordplay. Supposedly the NFL "suggested" that the Pats suspend the two during the investigation. The Patriots complied, now they need to seek permission before they can be reinstated.
So technically, the NFL didn't directly tell them or force them to do it. Roger knows that, play on words and politics.
