Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

Brandon Merriweather has gone to multiple pro bowls.

Yeah, so has Vince Young.

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

Yet you still use pro bowls as part of your argument.....

Do you see a difference between 11 Pro Bowls and 2 Pro Bowls?

Do you think Meriweather or Young will go to 11 Pro bowls?

I don't think Manning is better. Try reading the thread.

Got shot down by people who have an invested interest in volume stats not making a difference.

Kinda like being shot down that 'pro-choice' is right by a bunch of 'pro-lifers'.

Stats:

Manning: 11 ProBowls-6 All Pros-4 MVPs
Brady: 6 ProBowls-2 All-Pros-2 MVPs

These aren't my opinions. They are the opinions of the football watching public and media. My opinion is that I'd rather have Brady, but I'd be a moron to think that the general populace thinks the same way as me when the evidence is contrary.

Manning's played in four more seasons than Brady. That's not the best way to compare them.

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

Did he mention all the #1 draft picks the Colts surround Manning with...WRs, RBs, TEs, OLs while Brady was blessed with only his second #1 ....another OL

Really?
Ben Watson. Maroney.
Moss was a #1 (and one of the greatest receivers of all time)
I'm sure there's plenty more I havent listed.

There may not be as many #1s this year, but Brady has played with plenty of #1s

There aren't "plenty more", there are very few more, and that's if you include guys like Joey Galloway. Actually, apart from those you cited all I can think about is Dan Graham. So Brady has played with three offensive players the Patriots drafted in the first round. A mediocre tight-end, and two complete busts.

Manning, meanwhile, has played with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Marshall Faulk, Dallas Clark, Edgerrin James, Joseph Addai, Donald Brown, Anthony Gonzalez...there might be others. keep in mind these are all guys drafted by the Colts, not former first rounders from another team.

Yeah, almost the same.

The general populace is an arse. The majority of NFL players believe Brady is better than Manning. Source: NFL Network's NFL Top 100 Players.

Yeah, they ranked Brady 1 and Manning 2. Brady is coming off an MVP season, Manning is coming off a subpar season. Two years ago they would've ranked Manning 1 and Brady 2.

Two years ago Brady had an ACL injury and missed the whole season. Hard to outdo Manning when you're not playing.

Manning gets mvps even for subpar seasons. That is why the Manning has more mvps argument has no merit. If there was honest voting in 2008 and 2009, Manning would not have been mvp, Rivers and Brees would have been.

After the '09 season, not '08. Just like Brady would've been 1 after the '07 season and Manning would've been 1 after the '06 season.

The signs just keep pointing to the fact that these two are pretty much equals on a historical level, with Manning getting the slight edge for longevity.

Brady's already got 3 Super Bowl victories and has continued to improve, while Manning, along with his team, has begun to regress. The signs point to Brady being considered a top 1-3 all time QB, with Manning falling somewhere between 7-12.

Seriously. Brady's 2009 comeback year from major knee surgery was better than Manning's 2008 MVP season.

Here's some stats for the people who absolutely need numbers to prove anything.

Top 5 seasons in passer rating and yards/attempt

See table ~1/2 way down the page.

Hold up. I'm doing a chart for "Most Seasons Playing a Bare Minimum of 9 Games/Season inside a Dome." Manning's all over that one, too.

The signs point that you're pretty clueless.

Brady has more rings and is better in the stats that matter the most: Passer rating and Adjusted yards per pass attempt.

If longevity gives edges, Brett Favre would be better than Manning.

Here's some stats for people who are delusional in thinking Manning is better than Brady.

Brady is the only qb to record a passer rating greater than 110 in different seasons: NFL Single-Season Passer Rating Leaders - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Brady and Steve Young are the only qbs to record an ay/a greater than 9 in different seasons: NFL Single-Season Adjusted Yards per Pass Attempt Leaders - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

That's a very nice collection of subjective lists. And it looks like some of them were done before Manning threw away a SB and, I dunno, the entire 2010 season, so that's nice.
