On his T.V. and radio shows I've heard Felger say that Brady, Belichick and Seymour are the best in the business. Correct. He has also said that letting the best clutch kicker in the NFL go for what amounts to a few million $ was a mistake. Correct. He has also said the DB's are average to below average at best. Correct. He says that the LB's are strong in 3 of 4 positions and lack overall depth. Correct. WR's can't create seperation and are often not on the same page as Brady. Correct. Basically he says that this is not an elite team at this point in the season, but may turn into one by the end of the season. Correct. So why does he catch so much crap on this board? He is 100% right, this team is not that good and needs to make great strides to make noise in the playoffs. I for one, appreciate the guy for not caving in to all the pom pom waving, 14-2 predicting yahoos. As for him being lumped in w/ Borges, apples and oranges in my opinion. Borges hates BB and he lets it cloud his vision of the team. MF likes BB but does not let it cloud his vision.

Because he keeps harping on vinateri, branch forever. his agenda is always biased to find something -ve. he hasnt said the team will improve by the end of the yr .He keeps screaming about the cap space when there is no great talent out there to sign (TO ??). and he keeps saying this is the best brady can play ...which i disagree.
This is team is not good, we dont need felger to tell us...but on the other hand their approach has been business like....until the last 8 mins of last nite's game.I dont put too much stock into fire and passion etc but they seem lost as a team and felger claims they are playing their best they can but have no talent...i disagree..they have played with horrible injuries and never looked like out of the game...yesterday by the 2nd quarter , i had doubts about this team..
its not brady and his receivers alone...the D is not creating turnovers and special teams still doesnt have a decent punt return since how long ...but felger doesnt mention this , all his objectivity is narrow minded...thats my 2 cents..

Maybe they're not creating turnovers and returning punts well because they are not that good. It seems to me his key point is that the 06 Pats don't have nearly the depth that the SB editions of the Pats had. That shows itself on special teams, the area the great Pats teams excelled in.

Yeah I agree.........he doesnt take me as being anti-Patriots to me he seems to be calling it like he sees it. I watched him on 5th quarter last night and everything he said was dead on. I can't hate on him for that.

I think this is a dead on accurate assessment at this point in the season. I think Felger catches alot of crap for his "straight" talking/direct approach......He has his moments sometimes where he goes over the top of course

I think Felger has gone a bit "Hollywood" and goes over the top a bit sometimes. That is the nature of his business. It is better than WEEI and the load of crap that Pete the Meat and Smerlas shovel each week.

When you look at the off-season moves piece by piece they are not that bad but the players they have lost the last couple of years were not just scrubs:
Big Willie - 1st Rounder, 4th overall
WR - did you know they lost their top 2 receivers? never heard that before...
Law - 1st rounder, 40+ career INTs (and he can tackle)
Adam V - pretty damn good kicker

The worst thing is no equivalent talent came in to replace these guys who left. And who cares if they made offers to players but ultimately could not get them to sign. I am so sick of hearing that Mason almost signed, or Givens was given an offer, Branch was given a fair deal, the Pats made an offer to Law, they had interest in Javon Walker, etc., etc. etc. Who cares? Second place doesn't matter in free agency, and it takes players to win.

They are feeling the effects of poor FA seasons in 2005 & 2006 not to mention ignoring some obvious needs in the secondary in the previous drafts.

Still good team, good coach, good QB should be a play-off team but the days of dominance are over. We are just like every other NFL team now, up one week, down the next. Huge game against Miami in week 5, could be the season.
