Felger: Bucs and Broncos messed this up

Re: Felger:Bucs and Broncos messed this up

What were these teams (and the Pats) doing for the three weeks that Cassel was franchised before the trade was executed?

Re: Felger:Bucs and Broncos messed this up

Nice work by Felger, but there is one critical element that I'm amazed he left off--I have not seen any story that documents what compensation the Patriots were offered (or if they were ever actually offered anything specific). Even if Denver had agreed to the deal, it is likely that they viewed Cutler as a more valuable commodity than Cassel (which is probably true), and therefore would have passed along less than TB's 1&3 to the Patriots.

Re: Felger:Bucs and Broncos messed this up

Funny how yesterday, more than one poster stated that this was a timely issue for the Pats. Someone even called the Bucs and Broncs slow pokes and fence sitters while labeling this trade a 'Bird in the Hand...' deal. Glad to know some scribes agree.

Re: Felger:Bucs and Broncos messed this up

That is why BB is BB. He's decisive. I don't blame him for not effing around and risk having the "bird in hand" deal with KC fall through.

Like Rookie players, rookie coaches and GM, will make dumb mistakes. Certainly sounded like that happened here and in at least 1 case (Denver), there are lingering ramifications to be dealt with.

As for Vrabel, sentimental feelings aside (I love the guy too), I am totally okay with him gone. He's not worth the 3.3M and lets face it, we all watched our defense last year. Too old, too slow at LB. Vrabel was a big part of that. He's no longer where our defense needs to go. In fact, we have to go in the opposite direction. Resigning Sanders with some of that cash makes perfect sense. He still has a great upside.
