Army-Navy game could leave FedEx Field in bad shape on Sunday | ProFootballTalk

The field crew has only 24 hours to get the field ready for tomorrow's game after the Army-Navy game tonight.
Hey, the NFL knew way back when that this was going to be an issue. A churned up, natural surface field is a perfect recipe for knee injuries. I'm not typically concerned about field conditions, but I'm worried about this one. Every freakin' NFL field should feature the new artificial turf. If any franchise, for whatever reason, doesn't want to adhere to that standard, that franchise should be jeopardized. It's no different than a basketball game being played on a floor that's soaked with water. In that case, the game would never be played. And the NFL likes to hold itself up as the gold standard. This is BS, and everyone knows it.

Not a surprise

Washington D.C. has been in bad shape for years.......apparently it has spread from our Government to the nearby football field

and here we go

This is beyond ridiculous. No NFL game should be played 24 hours after another game on real grass. I can't believe this is happening.

So the question is: Can the Pats win this game with Welker, Gronk and Hernandez inactive?

Reiss this morning:

Field conditions. This is a natural grass field and the Army/Navy game was played here Saturday. As one would expect, a natural grass field in December isn't going to be perfect and this could be an area to watch today. Patriots players were reminded earlier in the week to bring seven-stud screws for their footwear. "Army" and "Navy" are still painted in the end zones (Bill Belichick, who grew up around Navy, could feel right at home).

Thanks to Saturday's Army-Navy game, the field here at FedEx is chewed up. Especially bad near the 40s and down the Redskins' sideline

Just back from the field. Looks real chopped up. Some areas patched, so grass rises up. One player: "Is this grass for real?"

Ugly drive. Great first play though
