Faulk training for 14th season

I'd really like him to earn a spot in the staff. We wouldn't waste a roster spot in him and he would still mentor our young RBs.

Veteran minimum is about 3-4 times what position coaches make for a lot more hours...

Even if he returns..he will barley play..really at all.

Love this guy. Favorite Patriot.

Said it before, will say it again: if we had 53 players with the heart of Kevin Faulk, we'd never lose a game. I love this guy and hope he's got one last run in him.

I love the guy, too. I remember cheering when he was drafted.

But, is it worth a roster spot hoping for one last run? Very very tough decision and I do not envy Belichick as the one that has to make it.

I love them too. It has been an honor to have him as a Patriot for his entire career.

I wouldn't say that he has nothing left but his talents have diminished somewhat to the point where it may be the right time for him to call it a career.

I would hate to see him end his playing days on a different team.

And, BTW, Belichick not dressing him for the super bowl last year was like stabbing a knife into his back. IMO, that was totally uncalled for by Belichick.

That would be like the Sox sitting Ted Williams down for the 1946 World Series.

There is absolutely 0 chance of another team picking up K Faulk. If BB doesnt see a spot for him in the 53; he is done; although BB could keep him on the shadow roster instead of hiring as a coach.

but I dont see that he makes the final cutdown.

Last year the Pats were the #1 team in terms of our castoffs being picked up by other teams. There is little to no chance that the pats wont be in the top 10 of that category again.

Can you really hold a roster spot down for a guy NOBODY ELSE WILL PICKUP and simultaneously try to put some developmental, high potential, 2nd-year guy or (if they trade) a late round draft pick onto the PS; They will just then lose him to the jesters or miami, or .....

so shadow roster or retire/coach is my guess.

If Kevin does play this season it will be in a Patriots uniform only, IMHO. It means a lot to Kevin to have played his whole career wearing a Patriots uniform. If he has to retire, I hope that there is a staff position waiting for him. Even with the drastic pay cut, I think Kevin wants to stay in the game. Best wishes to Kevin no matter what happens. He's a great Patriot.

I love Kevin Faulk.....I will always LOVE Kevin Faulk for what he has done here as a Patriot. But his career is done and it is time to retire as a player.....Now, I would LOVE to see Kevin come back......as a RB coach. No one knows the role of all phases of being a Running Back than Kevin Faulk!!! God bless him in whatever he does and decides....just would like to see him get out on his terms before having to be cut or dropped...

Speaking of BARLEY....I could go for a Sam Adams right now!!!!!!

Bill loves his veterans, and in particular his veteran heart and soul leaders. If he signs him it won't be to cut him, it will be to give him a shot at confirming or denying what he apparently believes, that he can still play. The fact that he seems OK with being a role player who is probably willing to sign for whatever offer they would make and is training with them this offseason even unsigned will go a long way where Bill is concerned. Bill will find a role for him that may result in his simply being the insurance back who is inactive barring injury or total washout of one of the kids while also mentoring what is now a young and inexperienced (in the system including the fullbacks) unit. I can't imagine Bill going into camp with that unit absent some form of veteran leadership and he hasn't seemed to be looking at the position in FA to date so...

Fun Fact: Faulk is the last 20th Century running back left in the NFL with Ricky Williams retirement, and the last pre-Bellichick-Brady era guy left on the Patriots. Anyways, I'd love to see him come back as long as there's a spot for him. Reminds me of when we brought back Troy Brown in '07, nothing left, but still a great guy to have around.

Faulk is also one of three players remaining from the 2001 Championship team: Brady, Faulk, Light. And, Light and Faulk may both retire this year.

I think a bunch of you guys missed where K Faulk pretty much said it is here or nowhere. So I dont think you have to worry to much. Sure if a guy like Romeo called maybe he would be intrigued but for now I will take him for his word he wants to play one more and only here.

I just started a thread on a new provision in the CBA that the union and league just finished finalizing the language on. It will allow players who are tendered, tagged or who played out their contract to workout and attend OTA's with their team and be protected in the event of injury while remaining unsigned and in the case of UFA's free to sign on elsewhere later. This might be the vehicle the NEP choose to retain Faulk as a presence until they sort out the unit. The UFA players would be covered under at least avet minimum deal or another amount to which the team agreed. At some point they would have to agree to an actual contract or move on, but it allows these players to train throughout the offseason without losing leverage or their ability to sign elsewhere.
