I saw this also, and totally agree! He thinks Asante can be traded because we have Vrabel and Thomas who can play some corner. What an idiot! Does he even know different kinds of receivers (slot etc...) and how they are used/covered?
Please! All off season I have had Asante's INT of Peyton in my head...when he trotted into the endzone...I just keep thinking, let's get back to that...They should offer him $10M for this year...I think he was going to get $7M under the current deal, no? They need to work out a 1 year deal and draft a top corner and let him tutor said player....then next year see if they can agree to a deal. Question is Asante willing to do a 1 yr deal or not...
I agree man. You always hate to see a guy go down on a hit that may have or may not have been legal but especially in a meaningless game. This whole situation was just completely unfortunate and it sadens me that a football player lost his life playing the game (essentially.)
As for the Quinn statement, wow, what a tool. Quinn is everything an NFL coach wants IMO. I just pray he is a Dolphin.
he just backed Jack Tatum's hit on Stingley saying it was part of the game and people needed to suck it up (paraphrase)...then he said BYUs Jon Beck is a better QB then Brady Quinn. This guy is a freaking tool

I knew he was an idiot a long time ago, along with many of those "experts" that get to be on TV. I remember how last year he critisized the Titans for "ruining" their franchise and "wasting" their first round pick on a guy who "will not be a good QB in the NFL." He had an entire session of breaking down why Young will struggle and how he wont be good. There's a funny youtube video my friend (a loyal Titans fan) had me watch. Check it out.

You mean the Vince Young that was statistically the worst QB in the NFL? That one? Yea, he's a stud alright.
****erson is the biggest dope ive ever heard on t v****erson had a similar comment. What Hoge, ****erson and others are forgetting is that Tatum's hit was likely deliberately intended to hurt.
He and Lester Hayes had a contest each game, with points scored for sending people to the bench, for knocking them unconscious, and for knocking them out of the game completely. Supposedly he bragged about it in his books, THEY CALL ME ASSASSIN and a second one similarly titled. I don't know for sure because I didn't read either one, but that's what I was told.
Today that hit that Hoge calls part of the game is illegal and would get a player fined.
A sad part of this is that the Patriots and Stingley had agreed in principle to a new deal, but hadn't yet signed the contract. It was only an exhibition game, so no big deal.
I also read that John Madden visited Stingley in the hospital often and was bothered by what happened, and probably affected his decision to quit coaching so early in his career.
Tatum never apologized, never spoke to Stingley. He did try to set up a meeting between the two of them on TV, but at the last minute Stingley found out that Tatum had just published a second book and was going to use the meeting as a platform to promote the book, and the TV meeting never happened. Stingley said he would welcome a talk with Tatum in private, but Tatum wasn't interested.
Hoge and others are welcome to their opinions. I admit I am biased, but I think Tatum and Hayes were no more than thugs in NFL gear. ****erson compared Tatum to Rodney Harrison, which I totally disagree with, but again, I admit I'm biased.
