I can't find the link right now, but one thing that caught my eye on Reiss' blog was that last year, the Dolphins used one of their 30 official visits on Julian Edelman.

Given what we know now, it makes me wonder if White was ever truly on the Patriots' radar, or if they were just trying to bait the Dolphins into taking him too high. Aside from one 33-yard run, White accomplished very little his rookie season (he averaged about 3 YPC on ~30 carries, including that long one), and went 0-for-5 [sic] as a passer.

And, as patchick showed in another thread, Edelman may not be the better passer, but he's definitely the better athlete:

40/20/10 Vert Broad Shuttle Cone
White 4.55/2.63/1.60 35.0 09'09" 4.42 7.06
Edelman 4.52/2.58/1.52 36.5 10'03' 3.92(!) 6.62(!)

The patriots wanted a receiver. The phins wanted a quarterback. We both got what we wanted.

I voted no however I think they might have drafted White had he fallen further down in the draft. I don't think they had a second round value on him for sure.

no i don't think the pats truly wanted pat white, and i wouldn't blame them. not saying the guy is bad, but there were better options. i think they wanted edelman all the way.

They worked edleman out 3 times they saw something in the kid to do that
