Breaking New England Patriots Team News
This may just be hopeful thinking but with two of our Edge rushers questionable, I would think Wolf will be looking to see who might be available via trade

Kayvon Thibodeaux is now 3rd on the Giants depth chart and has been the subject of trade talk with the drafting of Carter

Meanwhile the Giants could use some depth at WR and we have Boutte available for trade. While ESPN's Dan Graziano thinks we could get him for a 5th round pick that may be too low but Boutte plus a 5th rounder seems like it could be feasible

minicamp 1 notes:

- Drake Maye had his best day in front of reporters. Threw deep TD passes to Hunter Henry + Rhamondre Stevenson, completed a back shoulder fade to AJ Brown, and had just three incompletions (dirted a screen vs slot blitz)

- Kayshon Boutte was one of the top WRs in a heavy rotation. Lined up at X with AJ Brown on the field with Brown at Z

- Caleb Lomu lined up at RT1 (Morgan Moses absent) and LT2

- Alijah Vera-Tucker participated in team for the first time this offseason, but he rotated with Ben Brown

- Elijah Ponder came inches away from breaking up a screen

My question would be, why would it be a Boutte plus ANYTHING. It would a trade of THEIR #3 edge, vs our #3 wide out. Why give them anything else. Need for need and a win/win for both teams

So good to finally have football back. Really excited to see what this offense will look like come regular season. If Maye builds from last year, we won't have as tough of a schedule as the teams that play us.

Still hopeful to see 3 areas improved before the season:

DE/OLB if Jacas cant be relied through the year. Landry is on the down term of his career, kinda on the hopeful note that some young guns will rise, which is risky for such an important position

TE - Hill's injury sucks. Seems like people have forgotten how invisible Henry was in the play offs, even against bad TE defenses. Raridon looks very interesting but his medical history scared me. Westover was the 52nd best player for us last year

ILB - it boggles me that we dont insurance for Spillane. Ellis sucks and people defending him are wrong

Vildor and Minor as the next guys up after Gonzo and Davis outside is a little uncomfortable. Need some good health at the top of the depth chart. Getting a boundary corner in round 2 or 3 next year is probably a priority.

Showing up and not partcipating or going through the motions is like not being present at all.

Gonzo has 2 years remaining on his original contract.
NFL = Not For Long. If he wants to get paid (which he does) I’m all for it. This game is unforgiving; and he’s earned it with elite play. Especially in the playoffs.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I feel comfortable with Devito at QB2. I feel if god forbid something ever happened to Maye (knock on wood), we can win some games with Devito. He’s in his 2nd year in the McDaniels offense. And he’s been solid in the NFL before. I hope to see a lot of him in the preseason.

From the article:

It seems like his head is in the right place. He had a great opportunity to talk about wanting out, and he didn't take it. He had the opportunity to do a hold-out or a hold-in, he isn't taking it. He realizes he doesn't have a lot of leverage and he's going to have to wait to see how things play out.

Yet, I'm sure the sports talk idiots will find a way to spin it...
Boutte has had to deal with more trade rumors and talk than probably any Patriot and he handles it with class and poise…..I hope Pats keep him as he seems to get better every year ….if not I hope he goes to a team where he fits in great and they really want him there. Time will tell how great a player he will become but he is still young and improving!

I figured I'd post the roster as it stands, I believe this is correct... though I may have missed someone.

If they keep Boutte, man this WR corps would be extremely DEEP and talented. Brown, Doubs, Williams, Boutte, Hollins & Douglas. Obviously Brown and Doubs are our top 2, Boutte was our best deep threat last year. Hollins was a beast as a blocker and a decent receiver, trusted by Maye. Douglas had Maye’s trust as well as a slot. Williams, hopefully he has a good 2nd year jump.

I know everyone is saying Boutte can only get a 6th or 7th round pick, and I can understand the thinking. Last year of his contract, pushed down the pecking order because of Brown & Doubs. But bottom line, Boutte is a good NFL receiver, he’s gotten better every year, has proven he has good chemistry with Maye, especially deep. If you watch his highlights the last 2 years, he been really good with Maye. Only injuries has slowed him down.
