3. Great scouting- Jordan Maillata was a 7th rounder that the Eagles had scouted as a rugby player he is now a dominant OL

bottom line, Howie had 6 outstanding draft picks in first and 2nd round compared with 2 for Patriots, Howie made a shrewd trade for an impact player AJ Brown, Pats made a trade for Vederian Lowe
Roseman made brilliant high profile UFA signings at key positions- Barkley and Bekhton
Great scouting took a risk in 7th round on a player with an incredibly high ceiling and it paisd off

Howie has drafted incredibly well in rounds day 1 and 2 and rewarded with elite players, BB and Wolfe have had numerous early round failures and are forced to play 6th round draft picks with low ceilings, Howie nailed his UFA signings...Pats have failed.

I hope Eliott becomes like Howie but he needs to take on more risk and go for homers.

The defense was rebuilt by first looking at Georgia and going I like these players I like this scheme I like how they play together let’s draft them all.

Then it was oh you all want to take a QBs ok we will watch top tier defensive backs fall in the draft.

I am encouraged that Wolf had already started to beef up (or maybe create) their analytics department even before Vrabel got there. I am also encouraged that Vrabel brought in his guy to help out.

Belichick lived in the past when it came to roster management. He didn't believe in advanced analytics. He didn't believe in a robust scouting department. And left Wolf with no tools to manage the roster last year.

Wolf didn't have the job permanently until after the draft. So the Krafts may not have let him build up the scouting and player personnel department until after that. From reporting, there has been significant additions to those areas of the front office even before Vrabel was hired.

Wolf could still suck, but he is building a front office or like the Eagles' front office that heavily relies on advanced analytics and sports science to build a roster.

As we all know as patriots fans when we had solid coaching and front office staff as well as the roster we won consistently. We need to do the things that brought us winning. We have the coaching and QB now it's time to get the roster right and back on the path to winning.

It hasn't mattered if it was Carson Wentz, Nick Foles or Jalen Hurts at QB. It hasn't mattered if it was castoffs like Lagarrette Blount, Jay Ajayi, Miles Sanders at RB or Saquon Barkley.

Football is won in the trenches. Spend your money and resources there, find a QB and everything else will work out.

Running the ball well makes the passing game impossible to stop. Whether or not the Eagles win, more teams should make this a priority again.
