Drew Bledsoe on AVP

I have questions about the offensive staff. Let Brisket take the beatings while they gain experience.

No doubt in my mind Maye is not ready to start. His entire rookie season should be red shirt and film study time.

Even if Brisket gets hurt, put in Zappe. Let him take another half seasons worth of lumps.
so, we need to carry 4, or are you suggesting that we cut Milton?

Zappe? Zappe?? You can’t be serious or maybe you’ve never seen him play. Stop it with this nonsense.

Completely serious. Be honest - you know, or should by now Maye is not a day 1, or even a year 1 starter. He is a project QB with an "upside". Give that "upside" a chance.

Red shirt Maye. sit his ass for a year. Thats why we got brisket.

If brisket cant go, then yeah Zappe or whoever is the back up.

If we go 2-15, no f's given. We are talking long term benefits vs short term gain.

Pape,

I see your points, and you make valid points. I see it this way. As Mayo's mentioned all the QBs will compete so By virtually being a veteran, and having played in AVPs system before he has a leg up. If... just....if Drake displays in camp that he's ready.. when I say that. Meaning convincing AVP, and the staff by his play in camp and pre season. Just my opinions brother.

I didn’t realize so much that Drew uses the first-person plural (we) ever!, let alone so much when talking about the Patriots. I love that about Jules, but Pats was all he knew. ; so Drew still feeling the ties after kicking around the league is cool.

Wolf knew what he was doing when he and Mayo brung in AVP.. to do what he did last season in Cleveland is remarkable.. and that team made the post season.

Have zero issues with Maye playing in preseason. I encourage it.

He does not belong on the field during the regular season during his rookie year. Period.

Well we will all be watching and seeing how it all comes together!

I don’t get this “should Patriots start or sit Drake Maye” questions before training camp has even begun. Decision should be made by how he looks in camp and preseason

I hope he looks good in camp, but I still want him to sit until he fully knows the offense, and they confidence the OL can protect him.

I think there's more you can learn playing than sitting. This is true for almost any skill.

A poster mentioned we should do what GB did. Tell me who's the future HOF QB we have on the roster like they had.

GB kind of proved the opposite, Love sucked until he got his feet wet and started like ten games. I don't really see why Jordan Love couldn't have started sooner. He needed to play.

Becuase he was behind a future HOF QB.. so In GBs eyes they could be patient with him, and let him develop. We don't have that option.. I'm of the mind if Drake earns it as a rookie by his play then let the kid play.. you don't learn by standing around on the sidelines. CJ stroud same thing he earned the opportunity to start. Fans have stuck in thier minds of the Mac situation. That will likely never happen again.

i was hammered over not wanting Brisket here. Was told by nearly everyone that he's the perfect mentor for Maye.

So there is your answer per the conventional wisdom of this site.

The unfortunate part is conventional wisdom would say you would had liked it to have been Zappe.. but he's no leader either. Baker was the choice that I saw people wanted here. So now we have Brissett.. I don't know that he'll be the starter.. it's so much to be decided

Zappe = More likely than not a higher draft pick.

which is clearly better for us at this point of the rebuilding process.

Take your pick...
Texas's Kelvin Banks or LSU's Will Campbell anyone?
Missouri's Luther Burden or OSU's Ebuka?

sounds pretty damn good to me...

I wonder if Drew will ever get the coaching bug. Even the drawl in his voice is starting to sound like Bill. Lol
Drew makes and sells wine. Where he lives, he can ski in the morning and then decide whether to golf or mountain bike in the afternoon. So no, he’s not giving up a fun life for the grind and drudgery of coaching.
