Nobody should be asking "Is he legit?" They should be asking what kind of monstrous upside he'll be unleashing next.
They are using Drake maye as a reference to superstar or Superman or perfectionist .This thread is too long. That said, can someone shed some light on the "Drake Drake Maye Maye" reference to me please?
I think Stafford has to lose the Rams a game in these last 2 weeks for Maye to win the award. Those total TDs are the media backed advantage hes had over Maye for weeks now.
Yep. Jimmy is the Rams backup (?) and I’m confident he’d win a few games for them more than I would be with Dobbs or whatever aging vet they went withAs I said there's a difference between MVP and OCOY. If they want to give Stafford OCOY because of his touchdowns so be it, but no player is more valuable than Maye is to the Patriots. If the Rams lost Stafford they probably be a .500 team. If the Patriots lost Maye they would be picking top 5. Maye is more valuable to the Patriots than Stafford is to the Rams.
All of it bears quoting, but the bolded stuff is the most exciting... the first one simply could not be, if Maye were subject to the same trade-offs as everybody else. It's also been absolutely stunning that you can notice a trend and see what a possible solution might be, and bang, the problem is fixed in a couple of weeks, never to return. I'm thinking of the "happy feet" sacks in consecutive games earlier this year. He started throwing the ball away out of bounds, and here's the key part, he never got nervous and "forgot" that lesson. He never fought it, trying to preserve the accuracy stats. And lo and behold, he continues to make you pay if you don't (or can't) pressure him, with 90% completions. It’s almost uncanny.
Maye leads the league in completion percentage, and yards per attempt.
He throws with touch and pinpoint accuracy to every part of the field.
He’s deadly in the pocket, and deadly on the move.
He shreds man and zone coverages and makes you pay for blitzing.
Under center, in shotgun, play action, check, check, check.
If you leave him an opening, he can do damage running.
Literally the only weak spot I see in his game right now is one opponents can’t control: wet weather.
And he’s still improving week by week.
(And by the way I am having fun visualizing some generation of Hoculi intoning "false start., the quarterback was moving backwards through spacetime but in the temporal dimenstion, second down.")
I've never heard that explanation. What I heard was he's always called Drake Maye because his first and last names are 1 syllable, and people will say Drake Maye, Bo Nix etc but will say Rodgers, Brady etc. if the first and last name is more than 1 syllable, they just use the last name. They are using Drake maye as a reference to superstar or Superman or perfectionist .
So instead of referencing Drake as Drake "perfection " maye they are using his name Drake maye as a superlative adjective to be used as a middle name
Hence Drake "Drake Maye" maye
Where the Drake maye in quotes is adjective .
I read somewhere that they did not want to reference Drake maye as Drake " Tom Brady" Maye and the Drake maye insert was more a middle name moniker to signify superlative performances like Tom Brady, Superman etc.I've never heard that explanation. What I heard was he's always called Drake Maye because his first and last names are 1 syllable, and people will say Drake Maye, Bo Nix etc but will say Rodgers, Brady etc. if the first and last name is more than 1 syllable, they just use the last name.
He's "Drake Maye" whenever you say his name thus the full name is also what he's called when you shorten his name. Tom Brady was "Brady" and Aaron Rodgers was always called "Rodgers" but Maye is "Drake Maye" when people talk about him
I don't get how perfection and superman somehow relate to Drake Maye's name?
I will be fine with Staff winning. Hes had an awesome season. They always list 40 TD's to 30 TD's when comparing Maye to Stafford but Maye has 4 rushing TD's to none.
Of course, Stafford will probably throw 4 TD's tonight anyways....
I think in the end Stafford is going to get the MVP unless he somehow has a terrible game this week or next. He's a deserving candidate. Just think if you put Jacoby Brissett as the QB of each team the Rams are in the playoff hunt and the Pats have 6 wins, thus Maye for me but I "might" be biased
He is Him. And he is Here. It’s almost uncanny.
