Drake Maye has arrived . . .

Major gush alert! Woo boy reading stuff like this from a non NE source
Watch any NFL on CBS segment discussing the Patriots you can find. Their panel (James Brown, Bill Cowher, Nate Burleson, and Matty “Ice” Ryan) are unbelievably giddy with admiration.

Its like riding a rollercoaster super exciting and scary at the same time. His year two jump was not a jump it was a launch towards outer space. Will he finish the season playing on this level hard to say as the pressure on his shoulders continues to build with expectations coming from every direction. It has to be tough for him to manage all that is going on around him but so far he has been all that and a bag of chips. There is no doubt this team will only go as far as Drake can take them. He is carrying the team just as Brady did for so many years. I did not think we would see something close to Brady anytime soon and yet here we are.

Drake's not on the Pats' all time top ten QB's list - yet.

My criteria is whoever was at one time a Patriot, regardless of how little or poorly they played with us. Thus, Reggie Wayne would make the top receivers list and Fred Taylor the RB's, etc.

*MVP

1. Tom Brady*

2. Doug Flutie*

3. Steve Grogan

4. Jim Plunkett

5. Babe Parilli

6. Drew Bledsoe

7. Rich Gannon*

8. Cam Newton*

9. Joe Kapp

10. Vinny Testaverde

Highly overpaid & highly overrated:

Tony Eason, Hugh Millen, Jimmy Garoppolo, Mac Jones

Highly underrated & not given a fair chance:

Brian Dowling, Bailey Zappe
The fact that Flutie's not in your 'not given a fair chance' list is sad to me.

Wish this thread would have started with this gem.....I could have stopped reading from there.

While we all are marveling at Maye's growth, can we take a moment to recognize and thank the person responsible for all of this .

Chad ryland missed kick against giants . What a kick that was. Helped us be in position 3 and grab maye else we might be still with bill /Mayo.

Housemartins alert... Zappe Hour Again!

It's almost impossible for a QB to be playing much better than Maye has been this season. The only reason he's not putting up video game numbers in terms of volume is because he isn't throwing 35+ passes a game. His efficiency is completely off the charts. He easily could be averaging 300-325 yards and 3 td a game if he threw more. But they're winning (handily) without that, so why have him throw more?

It was like when Mahomes was early in his career. People were like, "Oh man, and he's just starting! Imagine when he gets experience!" And the fact was, it was unsustainable. Or, at least, it was not possible, really, for Mahomes to play better than he was.

Maye has been almost unfathomably good. It's difficult to conceive of a way he could improve. He has every single throw in his bag. He can run. He can take a hit - i.e., he's tough. He is incredibly smart and processes things so quickly, both pre-snap and in live action. He has a cannon but throws with delightful touch. Every depth is his - short, medium, and long. He's shown the ability to manage a game and also to sling it and come back from a deficit. He's won at home and in a daunting road environment against a great team. Nearly every decision he makes is the correct one. Not all, but nearly all. He's a legit leader on the team too.

Pretty amazing to watch, but I don't think we should expect him to level up much more than he already is. He's already MVP level.

All I could think about yesterday with Maye having another stellar game and Caleb Williams continuing to regress after a good start to the season is how the Bears' front office laughed at the prospect of drafting Drake Maye and even showed all his lowlights to mock him when reviewing prospects.

I hope the Bears enjoy Williams and I wish them the best when they are trying to draft a new franchise QB in two years.

Bears and passing on elite QBs. Name a better duo.

He is honestly just soooooooooooooo ****ing good. Last year he showed a ton of promise, but still made losing plays which a lot of talented young QBs do. Nothing concerning to me. But it looked like he still needed plenty of seasoning. There's two different scales to grade young QBs on... 1) are they actually a winning player right now? and 2) do they have long term potential?

It's very, very rare for such a young QB to actually be a winning player so soon. QBs can lose games a lot more easily than they win them. I expected Maye to make a bunch of splash plays, but I thought you'd still see more "WTF" throws, misreads, etc. like he had a good amount of last year. I figured better coaching and baseline talent around him would be a factor, but still thought there'd be some growth. He's literally elevated all the way past growth and is just straight up playing at an elite level.

Who is going to give him the cold weather gear preps? Will Brady be so kind to provide assist or we can get Hoyer? December/Jan football in New England is not to be trifled with.

Yeah, that is my concern, too, but I'm gonna assume McDaniels will at least give him some pointers.

BTW, another sign Maye has arrived . . . noted Patriots hater Scott Kacsmar (formerly of Football Outsiders, who got fired b/c Boston fans found he was just a straight up racist) is having a meltdown on Xitter today about Drake Maye.
