Maye will have tough games ahead.
Its never perfect. Brady had his off game now and then too.

I dont think Maye is like some quarterbacks that bail out on a play too early just to run. I think he much prefers to stand in the pocket. We should just be glad that when he does roll out he still throws a nice ball on the move.It was a blessing in disguise that Brady was so effing slow. It forced him to become the best pocket passer ever.
I hope that someone will warn Maye that his legs will eventually betray him.
Brakes on a tad everyone, lets not get too far in front of ourselves. Do I believe that Drake is going to be our franchise QB and one of the best in football, you had better believe I do. But it is early and he is still learning, there is going to be times when he struggles or has a bad game. There are certain people on this forum that will leap at the chance to vilify him. So lets just enjoy watching him grow week by week and not get too carried away.
Really nice review of some of the Maye throws you might not have fully appreciated at the time:
I told AVP thisYeah his chemistry with Diggs is ridiculous: Maye is dangerous when he rolls out. Gotta call some rollouts to the left to even things out.
Smells like AIDid Bra Bra Brady say that?? I'm stuttering in ecstasy.
Hey Ben Roethlisberger's gonna make the Hall of Fame, and that's what he did for 17 years or whatever.Jordan Love with his smooth throwing motion and arm talent looks like he should be an all pro every year based on that alone.
Then you see he throws to the first read, if not open, dumps it to the back. Over and over and over. Lafleur is very good at getting the first read open but when you play a team with a defense like the Browns this year, you see the issues with Love.
Browns will give many QB's fits this year and interesting when Drake faces them.
I thought early on Love was going to be a great one. IMHO He'll remain only good because his processing is not good and he relies on the OC to do the processing for him. Luckily, he has a great OC but only takes you so far.
Contract though. Drake is on a rookie deal for this year and 3 more.Mahomes, Allen have been working with average to bum WRs. Yes I’d take them both at their current ages over Maye. QBs have a pretty good shelf life, especially the most dedicated guys. But that’s probably where I’d stop.
Check in by seasons end and I could have a different answer.
I was taking contract into consideration.I think the contract makes that a no brainer answer.
Just on pure play to win a game today there are a few guys, not that many though, I'd take over Drake.
A better question is; Assuming contract was the same, who do you want to be your QB the next decade?
I'd eliminate the QB's over 28, Burrow will be 29 this year, and Allen is already so out due to age. 5 years more of Maye in his prime over them.
The top QB's left in the discussion, IMO, are:
Love-26
Hurts-27
Daniels-24-will be 25 in December
Herbert-27
Maye-23
If they all cost the same over the next 10 years, who do you take?
My answer is easy since Maye was the best college prospect I saw at QB going back almost a decade and I believed when he was drafted, IF he was not in a bad situation, he'd be the NFL's best QB, or close to it, for a decade. But I know not everyone is that enthusiastic.
On tape I'd put Herbert as the next guy.
On rookie success and similar age, Daniels.
I would not choose either over Maye but those are the two I think you can make an argument for.
Yeah, right now it’s looking like a race of:If it wasn’t for Daniel Jones, Drake Maye would be in the middle of the MVP debate.
(Can you imagine the reaction to the above post if I made it in July as a prediction???)
