Drake Maye adapting to McDaniels Offense

Because of Maye's arm strength, size, and athletic ability, Josh would be a fool to not use those abilities that Maye has and adapt his system to Maye.
Daboll worked under McDaniels and is credited with the development of Josh Allen. I am sure McDaniels knows what to do.

I am going to be blunt here Triumph.. If you think I have been propping Mac Jones up two things are true: 1. You don't pay attention and 2. You are the dumbest mother****er on these boards.

I was one of if not the first person who said he had to go. In his second year here.

"You people" my ass. Take that dumbass **** elsewhere.
You're an idiot.

Joe Cool rode the bench.

You rode the short bus.

Josh will do fine with Maye
Perhaps as good as

3800 years
22 TD's (and 13 INTs)
92.5 rating
10-7 and sneak into the playoffs

Would that be reasonable with our weak schedule?
=========
What will be important is to keep Josh here for the next 4 years, at least a couple.

And will Never get a shoot at that Title again: Maye's OC for Life.
I imagine he is happy with the situation now. He tried the HC thing and it never worked out. Sometimes in life we have to recognize our ceiling and be happy with who we are.

Yup, and Mickey D is lucky to have Maye as a QB to groom.

Its becoming more and more clear that Maye was the guy to pick. He has miles to go, but is in good hands.

Not to mention RPO: though Maye could be an exclusive Pocket passer with his skillset. But I can't wait to see the design run play calls from certain formations. Imagine a Brady who could actually run; that's probably what we have in Maye.

Brady not being able to run is part of why he lasted so long.

The less Maye runs, the better. He got his bell rung pretty good last season. Not something I want to see again.

Let's look at it like this in McDaniels case: going from Mac Jones to Drake Maye is like moving from the out house to the penthouse.
Yes, Maye will do better that Mac did in his year with Josh. The only issue is for Josh to stay. If he had stayed last time, the last couple years would have been much, much different.

believe it or not, the Bills dont run all that much rpo... like us, they use more play action... Baltimore uses a ton of rpo... they are about 50/50 with the rpo/play action mix...
The Bills are running the Patriots offense

I’m a fan of Josh. I think he’s shown he can tailor his approach to the talent he has. I don’t see a ton of deep throws this season due to the lack of a big downfield threat. Diggs is more versatile and I think Mack Hollins will have a limited role. OL also needs to prove they can hold up before we take a ton of deep shots.

See Drake’s arm strength more being used on corner throws and bad weather. Don’t think we’ll have to go run only in bad weather like we did with Mac.

Hope there won’t be a lot of designed runs. I know Drake is mobile but he’s too valuable.

Maye is better in the shotgun but JMDs offense will keep him under center quite a bit especially if we are run heavy with a fullback in the mix and play action.

Barth and Lazar are advocating for run plays out of the gun. That plays more to Henderson and Gibson.

Gotta like this...

Per AC - New-ish wrinkles from McDaniels. QB runs, bootlegs

liking that very much

Look just ****can the ****ing draw to a fullback play on 3rd and 5 and I'll be fine.

our designated FB hit the IR yesterday, so ... brightside?

So at what point do we start to rave about Drake?

He seems to be absolutely balling out through the first week of camp!

Not a lot of mistakes, spreading the ball around to everyone, scoring TDs left and right, and good completion numbers.

You people are.

Its over. Corky is not an NFL QB.
He'll be a half decent backup. There are worse backups than McCorkle in the league...

And he's not the first nor the last good coordinator to fail as a HC. Some people aren't cut out for the job.

I'm sure that there are QB's who look mediocre against weak team and look great against good teams.
==========
STEP ONE is to beat the teams that you should beat. THEN, eventually, a QB might be competitive as an underdog.

Beating the teams that you should beat and splitting against the rest is often enough to get lots of teams into the second season.
Right now, the Patriots look like a W to every opponent on their schedule, so nothing is a given. But the encouraging thing about the schedule is that eight of the first nine games are against teams they can beat - if the OL can at least be a middle of the pack group. So far they look like they can be that from the little action we've seen against an above average front seven. We can be pretty sure Vrabel's defense will hold their own against everybody except the Bills in the first half of the season.

Drake Maye will be fine if he gets time to work through progressions. The thing about Josh McDaniels' offense is that it makes great use of slot receivers and tight ends at every down and distance. The 2025-26 Patriots have solid players at those positions so Maye should always have an outlet to a guy who can get positive yardage. If the OL is above average, the new receiving corps and addition of TreVeyon Henderson can be productive against the cluster of teams similar to the Patriots who look beatable in the first half of the season.

If the OL struggles to find its rhythm in a new offense for most of them, the Patriots will struggle against everybody. I don't like the late signing of a new center suggesting the the top two in the depth chart are not getting it done in training camp. The center position looks like the weakest link on the team. Seeing Cole Strange line up at center in the 11-on-11s is not a good sign.
