What 3 positions, in order, should Pats select in top 3 rounds?

Go big or go home...

OT and DL in the first three or four picks.

Football is won in the trenches, use the Howie Roseman method.
Bingo, we have bingo

I did the breakdown before but no later than halfway through the 4-year rookie deals all players drafted will sign, I expect there to be an opening for a starter at every single position on the roster outside of QB. (Caveat that at RB Henderson may be the "starter" but there would be a need for a #2 back behind him that will play a starter level workload too with how true one-back backfield teams go with now.) Looking at age and contract status, every position on the roster will have an opening no later than for the 2028 season at which point rookies will only be halfway through their deals.

I don't see it as BPA vs. need. I see it as every single position on this team is a need over the course of these rookie deals so they should draft accordingly.

I'd love Pats to trade our 2nd 4th rounder to move up in the 3rd.
AND trade all of our 6th's for a 4th rounder. We don't need bottom development bodies, we need a handful of guys who can play right away.

I agree. They don't need to draft 11 more rookies this year, try to condense the picks to move up for guys they like the most.

Mel Kiper's list. All the big bodies and tackles rise up in the rankings, 7 of them. This is why it's exceedingly hard to draft a tackle. Everyone grabs them. When you get a chance at one, you grab them.

Belichick got lucky with gonzo. He traded down and if not for ron rivera misstep we might have been stuck with a watered pick in form of Washington cornerback.

I would not give credit to belichick for gonzo. If he knew how good gonzo was he would have picked him up at 14 instead of trading down.
Exactly regarding BB: even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

I don't think any team is going to make that trade. About the best you might get is trading two of them for a 5.

As near as I can tell, based on the actual trade [14 for 17 + 120, which is a net loss of draft capital], at least one of two things (likely both) must be true:

1. Belichick was the one who initiated the trade, and was deliberately trying to screw over the JEST.
2. Gonzalez was not head-and-shoulders above the alternatives at 14, and Belichick was essentially certain at least one of the players in that group would still be available at 17.

The Jete are perfectly capable of screwing themselves over.

So still assuming this is fine , if gonzo got drafted by the commanders what happens then .

Its not a risk that you take. This means bill did not evaluate gonzo properly or he had insider info that gonzo will be available at 17.

If he did not trade down I can really give credit , but definitely not when the risk is huge when we might end up losing an all pro player whom we haven't drafted in ages.

Gonzo and maye are the ones along with Marcus and schooler I believe in special teams.

No thanks. Don't want him.

Exactly regarding BB: even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Yep. And that blind squirrel also found 6 Lombardi's. You on the other hand wanted to trade the #3 pick for Justin Fields.

This draft has maybe 10-12 players with first round grades.
How teams stack their boards should lead to some players being drafted too early and some players falling.

In an ideal world, wolf does not take a guard with a 3rd round grade in the first round.
