My friend dated this guy who went to the U of Oregon, Dante Rosario. He's a blocking TE (a la Graham), and he called and told her that the Pats and Cowboys have already set up interviews with him.

I know its not a big deal but a little bit of some cool insider info.

maybe thinking of him as an UDFA? but hey, who knows, no one thought Matt Cassel was getting picked either; now we all want a 1 for him.

That's ironic cause I had Rosario as one of the picks in the Draft game that is occuring over in the draft forum.

7th round - The pick that is currently 219, but will be sliding down because of the comp picks that will be in the draft.

cool... i was just curious... i follow the draft a lot and hadn't heard of the guy yet.

Name: Dante Rosario
College: Oregon Number: 44
Height: 6-3 Weight: 248
Position: TE Pos2: H-back
Class/Draft Year: Sr/2007
40 Time: 4.84 40 Low: 4.82 40 High: 4.86
Projected Round: 7
Rated number 14 out of 99 TE's 262/2338 TOTAL

Analysis

Positives: Natural receiver who made the transition from fullback to tight end over the final two seasons of his career. Surprisingly athletic, Rosario can generate yards after the catch and is tough to bring down. Blessed with soft hands and quick change of direction to develop into a fine route-runner. Selfless player who signed with Oregon as a linebacker before being switched first to fullback, then tight end. Accomplished special teams performer.

Negatives: Bit of a 'tweener. Lacks the stoutness and power to hold up as a blocker at the point of attack and is more quick than fast as a receiver.

12/20/06 - PRO PROSPECTS: TE-FB Dante Rosario - It would have to take the right system to make Rosario a fit. Rosario would be a great lead blocker for a franchise tailback or a good outlet as a tight end or H-back in a West Coast offense.

A #1 for Matt Cassel - not that is FUNNY!!!!!

Ya I had a good laugh at that one as well. Most predict we cannot get a #1 for Asante if we franchised him, but we could easily pull off a #1 for a guy who has never started an NFL game or even college.

Do you mean Matt Schaub? I don't think any team would trade a #1 for a QB that hasn't thrown a meaningful pass since he was a senior in HS.

No, he meant Matt Cassel. Schaub woundn't make any sense in the statement.

thats neat.... It could possibly confirm that BB is going to tag Asante, and is preparing for Graham to hit the market.

IMO it doesnt possibly siganal any such thing. We bring in 400 TE's to camp every year. BB loves TE's.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure Belichick is a walking encyclopedia of tight ends. If I were a college TE that didn't hear any interest from Pats scouts, I'd have to wonder what the he!! is wrong with me.

I totally agree. He will not rest until he find Gonzo/Gates. It is alomost like that 1 thing he hasn't been able to achieve. That's why I will not be suprised if we take Greg Olsen at the #28 pick.

That's a bit of an odd review. They call him a tweener and while he's not the biggest TE, he's not small either. Maybe he's a "tweener" in that he's not known primarilly as a blocker nor as receiver.

Sounds like he's more than a blocking TE - actually sounds like a good all around player from the review (I guess they all do at this stage).. a pretty good pick for the 7th or the 6th in my book.

He's a blocking TE (a la Graham)...

Don't mean to find fault with insignificant details, but Graham isn't really a "blocking TE". He's the most complete TE on the roster who happens to block very well. As a matter of opinion, his value as a blocker may be the main reason he hasn't been used more as a receiver.

As far as Rosario is concerned, this profile makes him seem like a natural receiver who's weakness happens to be blocking:

Well not knowing anything more than I'm reading it seems like we have a friend of a friend familiar with the player who said he was a good blocker in college.

The review is confusing to me as I said because they describe him as a natural receiver and cast doubt that he's big enough to be an NFL blocker, describing him as a "tweener" at a paltry 6' 3" 248 lbs.

Maybe they think he'd look like a feather in the wind standing next to Daniel Graham at 6'3" 257lbs. and Ben Watson at 6'3" 255 lbs.

I guess the guy just has no chance of gaining 7-9 lbs. in training camp. Too bad (I wish it were that tough for me!)

So I think its too too early to say anything from aside that the jury's still out - no bubbles being burst just yet - I'm getting the feeling that the above review might not be based on a lot of good information.
