Not saying it's a big reason. I just think he's smart enough to know Hoyer isn't a legit starting QB.

No knowing Tom's personality he won't want to see us lose even when he's not on the team.
I feel he will always have ties to the team maybe translate into coaching

I’m confused by the Kubiak thing didn’t he retire from HC to upstairs for partly healthy reasons? I think Fangio with him would set up Denver in a good way (for them) I just don’t get it

Health can also change for the better. Presumably he's well enough to work a coordinator job.

According to OTC, the Eagles must exercise Foles' option by Feb 13th - 10 days after the SB, a month before the start of the new league year on March 13th. They can't Franchise Tag Foles until Feb 19th.

But it's sorta the same either way .... I think.

If the Eagles exercise the option, and Foles opts-out, he becomes a free agent on March 13th (unless tagged). If the Eagles don't exercise the option, Foles becomes a free agent on March 13th.

Cap-wise, if the Eagles pass on the option, or if Foles does the buy-back, about $18.8m immediately comes off the Eagles' cap expenses - until they Franchise him, which they don't need to do until March 5th. Either way, it gives them a couple weeks or so to fix their cap issues.

As bad as Manning was in his last year, his knowledge or experience of the game carried them forward. He knew when to run, when to pass (although he wasn't very good at it). That Broncos team wouldn't have even made the playoffs if it was some other QB

That’s assuming he could still be tagged whuch I am not buying.

IDK about "dominant", but the Broncos have been running a (primarily) 3-4 base, so they have most of the personnel for Fangio's 3-4 already in place. It's their offensive personnel that needs work, starting with QB.

The Broncos currently have 9 draft picks for 2019:

    #10
    #41
    #71
    #113 & #125 (4th)
    #149 & #157 (5th)
    #184
    #239

They also have about $41m in effective cap space, so they could absorb Foles' FT cap hit and wouldn't need to trade Sanders. I'm doubtful that the Eagles would want to take on Sanders' $10m 2019 salary, anyway, considering that they're already in Cap Hell.

I could see a deal in which the Broncos and Eagles swap 1st-rounders (#10 for #25) and then the Broncos kick in their #41. Or something long those lines.

The Eagles already have 10 picks in 2019, including two 2nd, two 4th and three 6th (no 3rd).

I think the fly in the ointment for the tag and trade scenario is the accelerated cap hit:
    • You need Foles to sign the tag offer before you can trade him
    • If he doesn't sign he is a free agent
    • If he does sign his 2019 $25M QB tag salary becomes guaranteed
    • If PHL trades him the $25M becomes an accelerated cap hit
So PHL would probably get back some nice draft picks, but have to cut veterans to have enough money to sign even the relatively cheap draft picks. I think PHL has a lot of veteran talent that they don't want to cut. If they decide to cut the veterans, they will need the draft picks to hit right away.

It'll be very interesting to see how all this plays out.

    It's all in the timing.

Currently, Foles $20m option is figured into to Eagles' projected 2019 cap expenses that are showing them ~$12m-$14m over the cap. As soon as he's gone, that $20m disappears from the expense side of the ledger
    .
None of what anybody will be paid in 2019 actually counts until 4:00pm on March 13th. If the Eagles complete the tag-and-trade before then, they'd be starting 2019 about $6m-$8m under the cap.
