But “rare” first round miss? I don’t know, over a decade, a first round hit seems more rare than a miss
It's not just us.
We just saw across the league that fourteen 2020 first rounders did not get their 5th year options picked up.
This doesn't count the three that were out of the league before the end of their 4th year, and one who died in a car crash, and one not eligible because he was traded before the end of the fourth year (hint: that ain't a good sign) and one who was given an incentive-laden extension to avoid fifth-year guarantees (also not a sign of being a 'hit').
So, overall, only twelve first-rounders picked in 2020 were given fifth year extensions.
