Does it really matter how bad the Colts D is?

I can't *^*&%%ing believe some of the **** I'm reading here.

I don't think I will be visiting here this week. Some of this stuff is unbelievable. I don't need high blood pressure or premature labor at this point.

I'm thinking the exact same thing.

I think I'm going to take this week off. Some of the stuff people are writing is ridiculous. If a team that has done as much as the Pats have of late--especially against the Colts--can't get a little more trust and respect from their fans then I don't know who can.

Not that I'm going to bet the farm that we will beat Indy, hell, I'm not even sure we'll be going into that game 6-1 (I'm afraid of this Minnesota team), but for some reason, someone always knocks off Indy in the playoffs. Whether the pressure get's to Manning, or the opposing team just flat out makes no mistakes and plays great defense, the Manning''s, err....Colts always seem to choke. Even if they go 16-0, I would not be shocked if they get bumped off on the road to the SB. Ryan, you can use this quote like you used my last years quote about saying I didn't think Indy was the class of the AFC, I thought Pittsburgh was. I noticed that quote disappeared quickly from your list of quotes after Manning's usual choke against Pittsburgh last year. What will be the excuse this year ?, Pittsburgh certainly won't be a factor (unless they go 8-0 in the second half of the season).

Indy's O is tremendous ... and so is their QB.
Their defensive vulnerability is all that gives anyone else a chance.

You and the guy you quoted both need to chill.

I have been a fan of the Pats since the 70's and it has taught me one thing.

How big of a fan you are isn't measured by going into every game thinking your team will win.

It's measured by whether or not you show up even when you think they won't win!

Now I'm not saying I don't think the Pats will win though some idiots will claim I did. But I sure won't be surprised if they don't win.

But whether you like it or not, that Colts offense looks damn freaking good!

By the way, I have been to 1 Colts Pats Game in Foxborough with Manning and Company. You would figure the odds were pretty good I saw a Pats win.

Unfortunately it was last season!

If I were a guy, I sure hope I wouldn't be posting about premature labor!!!

That said, I stand by what I posted. I cannot believe the reactions here. As for your OP, it could have been written about the Colts in ANY year.

THAT is what is so shocking. Does it really matter how bad the Colts D is? Meaning, I presume, with their stellar O they should win every time. YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER, whether it's this year or not.

Can we at least save this till after tomorrow? MNF is not even here yet so this is just a lot of speculation. I think the picture will be clearer after our game tomorrow so we can get a good snapshot of where we are right now this week.

You are absolutely right!

You could. Any of the last few years.

But I was at that disaster last season in Foxborough. I had my heart ripped out. So I guess a part of me is scared that the Colts have finally gotten over the hump.

Believe me, me too!!

Last year, though, was not our year. Nor was it the Colts year, as it turned out!

I do understand your reaction. I do. It's just, we don't have to go around crowing how we'll win next week (something I think is not smart and definitely not a given) BUT we also don't have to prematurely crown the Colts, given what we know about them. Because from what I see, nothing about them is too terribly different, except they may have been even BETTER last year. We just have to play our game and we know if we can do that we can win.

"...And you have to score on every freaking possesion."

Indy's games this year:

Sep 10 @N.Y. Giants Won 26-21
Sep 17 Houston Won 43-24
Sep 24 Jacksonville Won 21-14
Oct 1 @N.Y. Jets Won 31-28
Oct 8 Tennessee Won 14-13
Week 6 BYE
Oct 22 Washington Won 36-22
Oct 29 @Denver Won 34-31

I think the pressure is on the Colts to score on every freaking possession. Even against some of the weakest teams in the league, they have to score a ton of points.

This can't last forever...look at all the high scoring teams in the league over the years. How many Super Bowls were won by the Chargers of the 80's, Marino's Dolphins, The Greatest Show on Turf, The Vikings in Moss' early years, and the Colts of recent years?

What's that...1 super bowl for all those teams....and that one was won by a great defensive play on the 1-yd line. The point being more often than not the team with the most points scored over a season does not usually superbowl. It takes more than offense to win the big games.....

The chicken little crowd is up in arms once again!

The sky is falling and the NFL season is not even half over!

Super Bowls are never won in September or October!

I agree, Manning is just amazing to watch. IMO he is the best pure thrower since Marino and may even be better before all is said and done. He makes it look so easy and if there was any doubt Wayne is without question their #1 receiver. A pleasure to watch, even more fun to watch collapse in the playoffs.

This situation we are in now is COMPLETELY different than last year. If it wasn't, then I would be agreeing with the gernally gloom and doom attitude here.

Condsider that last year:

We were missing Rodney Harrison. That alone was huge. Add to that we were missing Tyrone Poole and Chad Scott from the secondary, and Duane Starks was one of our staring cornerbacks. I don't believe we had signed Artrell Hawkins either.

We were also missing Kevin Faulk, Matt Light, and Patrick Pass from the offense, and Corey Dillon was hurt and much less effective. This greatly limitied our ability to run the ball and keep Peyton Manning and our defense off the field.

Also, it was only Bruschi's second game back from the stroke, and I believe Seymour was only recently back from his injury. Neither guy was as acclimated into the defense as they were later in the year, especially Bruschi.

There were so many factors that were against us last year, I really don't see how anyone can say what happened is any indication if what will happen this year.

All last year did was show that if a team is injured enough that they can be beaten.

This year the Pat's defense is allowing less points per game than the great 2003 defense, about 13, and still they're not getting a lot of credit.
