You are absolutely right!
You could. Any of the last few years.
But I was at that disaster last season in Foxborough. I had my heart ripped out. So I guess a part of me is scared that the Colts have finally gotten over the hump.
This situation we are in now is COMPLETELY different than last year. If it wasn't, then I would be agreeing with the gernally gloom and doom attitude here.
Condsider that last year:
We were missing Rodney Harrison. That alone was huge. Add to that we were missing Tyrone Poole and Chad Scott from the secondary, and Duane Starks was one of our staring cornerbacks. I don't believe we had signed Artrell Hawkins either.
We were also missing Kevin Faulk, Matt Light, and Patrick Pass from the offense, and Corey Dillon was hurt and much less effective. This greatly limitied our ability to run the ball and keep Peyton Manning and our defense off the field.
Also, it was only Bruschi's second game back from the stroke, and I believe Seymour was only recently back from his injury. Neither guy was as acclimated into the defense as they were later in the year, especially Bruschi.
There were so many factors that were against us last year, I really don't see how anyone can say what happened is any indication if what will happen this year.
All last year did was show that if a team is injured enough that they can be beaten.
This year the Pat's defense is allowing less points per game than the great 2003 defense, about 13, and still they're not getting a lot of credit.
