Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Why the hell would Kraft hire a leader who needs to learn on the job?
Ridiculous destructive hire
RKK would rather get into the ridiculous Hall of Fame, that no one gives a **** about, by making an unqualified hire, than win another Super Bowl. The old fart needs to hand it over to Jonathan.

What REALLY BOTHERS ME, is his players are backing him.
I guess they've never experienced a coach/coaches that KNOW what they are doing.
It bothered a lot of people when Brissett spoke out in a way that was interpreted as the opposite of backing the HC.

The players probably correctly believe that not supporting their coach/coaches will get them worse treatment than voicing support.

Breer and Curran already walking everything back. Must of got the “hey stop riling up the fans” message from the Krafts. Sigh.
Trying to preserve the option of keeping Mayo, because that’s what Thunder would want.

If the results on the field this coming Sunday are as bad as they were last Sunday that groundswell of support for keeping Mayo won’t be sustainable.

And I’d bet that both Robyn and Jonathan are aware that they might not be able to find an OC willing to come here if they fire AVP and not Mayo.

First of all, AVP is not a scapegoat. AVP SUCKS. AVP is a QB coach promoted way above his competency. That is not a criticism as hard as that is to believe. It is what it is. AVP is limited and I am sure he would be happy to go back to being a QB coach which he is good at. Everyone likes to do a good job. AVP will never do a good job at OC.

Noone who is competent will replace AVP working under Mayo. The Krafts know that. It is only a question if RK will swallow his pride and admit that he has no idea what he is doing. RK is trying to be smart and prove that he can run the team without BB. It is obvious, at this point, that RK is trying to compete with BB, and he is failing.

Mayo, Wolf, and Glazer interviewed OCs in 2024. It took months and months before they found AVP. It is now being reported that the interviews were wierd and marginally football related. The Pats now have a BAD REPUTATION in NFL coaching circles. No credible OC will interview for the Pats OC job if Mayo is still here.

The Krafts need to fire Mayo, Mayo's assistants, Wolf, and Groh and rebuild from scratch. They should have done this years ago. The Krafts held onto BB too long, and are now pretending that they can manage the Pats without BB. It is time to get a professional GM and coaching staff, get Glazer out of football operations, and get the Krafts away from football operations.
Agree about AVP. Not a scapegoat, just in over his head but still doing one part of his job well (QB coach) even though it’s not really his job but rather something one of his subordinates should be doing. Maybe if he delegated it he’d be able to make sure our OL was better coached?

Your last paragraph has me rethinking my opinion and expectations of Jonathan “trained by Bain” Kraft. I’ve been afraid his soulless Vulture Capitalist training will lead to management by consultant consensus. Now I’m thinking maybe it would be a good thing if he commissioned a study by McKinsey or some other consulting outfit to review football operations for opportunities for improvement. Hopefully the result would help him get Thunder to see the light.

If/Until Bill writes a book, we'll never really know.
I'll buy that one day 1, and I never read paper anymore.

Thunder seeing the light would be good. Other teams have used consulting firms with mixed results. A NFL franchise is a very unusual business model so traditional consultants are not that relevant. That is why it is tough to run a team, kind of a unique thing. There are very few talented NFL trained GMs and coaches. Mayo, Groh and Wolf are not in the talented pool. Oddly I think RK and JK could pick good NFL talent and entice them to accept the offer if they promised to remove themselves from all football decisions including removing people like Glazer.

I have a really tough time coming up with a single reason why it won't be worse. We just got beat down by the Arizona Cardinals. The Bills very likely could and probably will hang 50+ on us Saturday in front of the entire football watching world. Unless of course, they sit their starters for the 4th quarter, because they already lead by 30+.

Then the chargers come to town get their long stroking in. Then rinse and repeat with Buffalo.

From Mayo's presser today. Says he isn't going to talk about specific players then he proceeds to talk about Boutte. Does he ever think before he open's his mouth?

Q: I think it was Nate Tice that posted on Twitter that Kayshon Boutte isn't finishing all his routes, at least from what he's seen. Have you seen an issue with that at all with Kayshon this year?
JM: I'm not going to talk about specific players. I think we all have to get better. For me, when you talk about Boutte, it's get open and catch the ball. I mean, that's your job as a wide receiver. 'Receiver' is in the title of your job, your job description, and that's our expectation.
He has the attention span of a goldfish, which would also explain why he's always mute and got a confused look on his face every single time the camera shows him on the sidelines.

"Can't we all just get along?"
Everyone is full of the Christmas spirit.

The team was undisciplined last year it was just mostly on offense (and even before that we had embarrassing **** like Jacoby going rogue and lateralling to Mac Jones.

We are mostly because of lack of talent btw. The team is sloppy. But the reason we keep losing is because

1. Our line can't pass block or run block and are the worst in the league at both.
2. Our WR's statistically get the least separation in the league and one of them is the worst starters in the league by every metric.
3. The linebackers are a liability and always give up the middle of the field because they can't keep up.
4. Everyone aside from Gonzalez can be beat by a good WR, and even Gonzo gets burned every once in a while.
5. A kicker who misses routine kicks.
Because the team was undisciplined last season doesn’t mean the new coach isn’t held responsible for the team being undisciplined again.
Everything you listed above is true but you left a few things off the list.

6.Team is still undisciplined.
7.Head coach doesn’t seem to really be involved in the offense, defense or special teams.
8. The team starts slow every game.
9. The team is still committing the same penalties and mistakes they were making at beginning of the season.
10. Coaching staff doesn’t seem capable of making in game adjustments, the head coach even said there is nothing I can do to help them once they step over the line and onto the field.
11. Coaches and players seem to have no situational awareness.
12. Head Coach deflects criticism or tough questions to others.
13. The Head Coach can’t even stand in front of the media with confidence and answer questions.

The Krafts would essentially be giving the Fans the middle finger if Mayo is retained.

Josh is a horrible HC but a very good OC. He got blood from a stone with Mac and even Cam.

RK loves him some Josh.

I think there is something behind this.

The PR trial balloons are being sent up by Kraft productions.
I agree the Krafts will see that below at Gillette next year if they don't make that HC change.

I don’t know it makes too much sense, are we sure the Krafts have this much common sense?
Any chance they force vrabel to take Mayo as DC?

Mayo's LB Coaching is like Baker and Polk trying to play WR...get my drift.
