I don't think it's a problem in the least as far as the ability to get him, etc. We have plenty of picks, and they have plenty of incentive to get rid of his big contract and cap hit.
I think, obviously, that the whole entirety of the problem--is that we do not have the cap space, and that is assuming that we wanted him in the first place. The whole foundation of our team concept is to not put one player above another, and I think this situation is testing that concept. I don't want him personally, while I value and desire his athleticism, I also feel that he could very well mess up team chemistry. I still feel that IF we are going to break the bank, it will be for one of our own.
And to be perfectly honest, I understand that our pass rush was a problem, a bigger problem than usual yrs. But I disagree with some, however, that think it was this end all problem to our poorer defensive performance. We still ranked middle of the road with our pass rush. (14th in sacks, actually) I think a lot of the problem was due to an excessive, and unusual amount of injures, and also the loss of AD. When you combine that with Vrabel's losing a step, and the learning curve / patchwork LB's at times, I think that the pass rush problem will be back to what we expect--even without the addition of Peppers, or even Taylor for that matter. Our secondary is way improved, we have another full yr from Mayo and Guyton, and we have the draft to add and improve some depth and competition.
Our D is going to be just fine, Peppers presence is not needed here. I can understand wanting an all pro beast, but you also have to think of all of the cons that this will bring too
