The Ochocinco trade only adds to the plan. The Pats didn't need a deep receiver, they needed another ballsy guy to go up the middle into traffic and take attention off of Welker, and to make the sideline catch (an alament to the offense that has been lacking since Gaffney left).

What does a defense do when Welker, Branch, Ochocinco, Hernandez and Gronkowski are on the field?

What does an offense do when it's facing Wilfork and Haynesworth in the middle with Mike Wright mutilating some poor RT off the edge, McCourty and Bodden waiting upfield to pick the pass off.

I'm damn excited.

Spikes, Mayo, Cunningham, hell all of the linebackers jobs just got easier. AH and Big Vince demanding double teams? Maybe we are going to see something more like baltimore, letting mayo run free.

Do you all see what's going on here? BB is SICK of getting pushed around. He's sick of his team getting outmuscled. He's sick of Brady getting crushed. He's sick of offenses pushing us around. He's sick of 2nd halfs where we collapse due to being outsized and outconditioned.

Our O and D lines are slowly turning into a set of GIANTS. We're beefing up so quickly on the lines that we're clearly entering an era of smashmouth Patriots football.

We're going to run the football down opposition throats this year. Run, run, run. Tons of TE formations, tons of little Gronkowski TDs. Tons of 4-5 yard plays. Exhausting... wearing out... sapping the life out.. of the opposing defenses.

And on defense we'll do the same. Huge line will be a WALL. We'll manhandle those OLs and wear them out.

This is going to be a season where we EXHAUST oppositions. We'll wear them out, run them down, and totally dominate second halfs.

I hope you're all ready for the most physical and most dominating Patriots lines ever!

One of the best days this team has had in a long time. EXCELLENT moves by Bill and the front office in general.

I have been quite critical of the Pats over the last 1-2 years for not aggressively addressing their needs and being too passive as the Jets continually loaded up and shot for the moon with pickups like Holmes, Cromartie, Pace, Jenkins, Scott, etc.

But now the Pats are back in business and I could not be happier with the way that are doing business. This is the most excited I've been in a long time, probably since 2007 when we got Moss, Adalius, and Welker. They just dropped two bombshells on the AFC and the league. Belichick is sick of being one and done in the playoffs, and he made two huge moves to try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

This offseason reminds me of the offseason we had after a gut wrenching loss to Indy in the AFCCG in 2007 where we blew a 21-6 halftime lead. Losing in that fashion to our biggest rivals did not sit well with Belichick AT ALL. This loss to the Jets felt the same way. We let them strut in here with their big mouths and take it to us on our home turf, coming off a bye and 45-3 victory just over a month before. I can't imagine that sitting well with Bill, especially considering he had an unusually long off-season to stew about it. And he took action.

Well, just like after he went out and aggressively acquired Moss, Welker, Adalius, Stallworth, etc. to address our needs at WR and OLB, he went out and got us Haynesworth and Ochocinco to address our needs at DE/DT and WR. I am ecstatic with the assertiveness Bill just showed.

Low risk, high reward aquisitions. Didn't give up any major assets. Guys who have a chip on their shoulders and want to prove people wrong. Upper echelon talent.

The only thing left to do is to find an OLB to really put this defense right where it needs to be. We improved our interior pass rush and ability to collapse the pocket, as well as our run stopping ability in our base defense with Haynesworth. We improved our WR corps, giving Brady another good route runner who will compete Sundays and not quit like Randy Moss or pout like Randy Moss when he doesn't get the ball.

Now let's get an edge rusher and make this team one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL on both sides of the ball.

Hahaha, glad we see eye to eye. Sick of debating, happy to be celebrating.

I would never go green. I was starting to get fed up/impatient with the way Bill has done business the last few years while the Jets have been adding big time pieces like crazy. Very excited to see the Pats up the ante and get aggressive. Love both moves and hope Bill still has something else up his sleeve for an edge rusher.

Cunningham had a number of pressures last season, in his rookie year...I don't have the number in front of me but if even a 20% turnover to sacks is generated THIS season, then the edge may be OK after all. What Haynesworth does at tackle is , in tandem with Vince being double teamed, open direct inside lanes to the QB by either an ILB or a safety. In fact a corner like Ras ,coming from the inside in a nickel package, is a very intriguing thought...the big ? is which Haynesworth shows up this season....he's playing for another contract so I'd expect he'd approximate what he did the last time he had to play for his future..which I believe led to 8.5 sacks.
