Wait ... so you are a jets fan?

If the Jets decide to pay $7 or $8M per year to a non-playmaking safety, I would applaud that move.

If you're going to base your entire opinion of players based on your evaluation of two games, which you seem to be based on the garbage you're saying about McCourty, then you should want the Jets to sign Brady too.

It's 2 games into the season, and the Patriots have won both games despite having scored a total of 36 points. Why should we worry about a theoretical lack of plays on the part of any defender? At this point, shouldn't any worries about the defense center around players that might be obviously struggling, as opposed to some who just haven't shown up enough in the stat book for someone's liking?

A bust isn't an All-Pro and Pro-Bowler his rookie year.

Mcourty hasnt played anything like his rookie season. Thats why he lost his job at CB.

Youre saying hes not a bust because he had 1 good season. HA HA Quick, someone find Maroney and tell him that hes not a bust either.

It's a great thing you don't work for the front office.

It seems like you do with some of the busts that have rolled through this team.

You were a big Butler and Maroney fan boy.

They moved him to FS because we had literally no-one who could play there. It's much easier to find a good CB than a good FS, and we now have one of the best.

Even the dipsticks at PFF can see his worth.

Why havent the Pats given Mcourty a new contract?

Dont they want to lock up their "Elite" Safety?

After the ****storm that was the 2011 Patriots secondary, I'll gladly take a safety who's name doesn't get called often and when it does, albeit rare it's for something positive (a couple INT's last year). Besides I believe there was more to Milloy's release than the 0's on his statline.

He's signed through next season.

Also Jerod Mayo (Bill Jr) didn't sign an extension until the December before his final year of his rookie deal.

Clearly grasping at straws with the "why haven't they signed him" argument.

I'm going to give you a pass and assume that you didn't really mean that, OK?

He didn't say that it's easier to find an elite FS than an elite CB, he just said "good". In that regard, he's absolutely correct.

Not sure I agree with you on this one. Maybe it depends on your definition of "good" and "elite." This team hasn't had two good corners in years, despite drafting (and signing) a bunch. Granted, we've also brought in a number of safeties that also suck, but that seems to be an issue with this team, and not in general.

The team found a good safety because they were able to find two good corners first, one through the draft and the other through FA. I can also point to numerous examples of other teams that have had an easier time finding good NFL-caliber corners than they have had with finding good NFL-caliber safeties. It's when you start talking elite status that finding a corner that fits that mold is harder than finding a safety.

Good cornerbacks are much harder to find than safeties--that's why they're drafted higher and have much higher franchise numbers. You see lots of cornerbacks converted to safeties after they've lost some of their physical skills, but you rarely see a safety converted to corner. What exactly is your point?

Pay attention more to the rest of the league.

There are SIGNIFICANTLY more good cornerbacks than there are good safeties in the NFL right now. Its only when you get to the realm of cornerbacks with 'shutdown' ability that corners become the hardest to find.

There's probably 40 guys in the league who are "good enough" at corner. Safety? Maybe 20.

I told him this already, but he's not listening to me.
