NFL News DJ Moore to Buffalo

Literally a few days ago people were saying we would have Diggs and Brown.

Diggs and Brown is different than Pierce and Brown. I think the latter is an upgrade, but some people may be against it because of the cost.

At some point we need to just accept what the market actually is. Subtracting Diggs and adding Pierce isn't a net positive. And frankly, it plays against our strengths. You don't pay for a guy who only can go deep when your line is a liability and you don't want the QB hanging back there waiting too long.
I’m not sure Pierce can only go deep so much as that’s all Indy had him do. Pittman took all the intermediate routes

I assure you, Philly cannot break the rules and absorb it any other way. They paid the money already. That have to account for it.

I guess I phrased that badly. The article I saw noted that there are other roster moves they can make so that they can afford that larger cap hit in 2026 from trading him this month, not that they can circumvent the rules somehow.

Kyle Williams developing into a more dynamic route runner solves all of this.

You get Pierce for his deep threat capability, you get Williams to replace what Diggs provided as a down to down guy.
Kyle Williams is hardly getting a mention. Rookie season was not great, but i think watching his tape you can see that the young man has lots of potential.

This is the big take away. This sets the market on Brown
It's more complicated than that.

Moore had $23M guaranteed salary this year and that's it, the end, all future years are not guaranteed.

Brown has a $30M option bonus due in a week that the new team would have to take on if he is traded before then but can avoid if he is traded after that, and he has other future option bonuses, and his whole contract is overall complex and probably needs to be re-done to some degree.

Because of those moving parts, Brown's value will be different today vs. two weeks from now vs. in June, etc. While the Moore trade gives a frame of reference as far as talent, there's just a lot more to it.

I would like the Pats to have gotten him as long as they got Brown or Pierce too. I wouldn't want him as the #1.

Don't like that the Bills got him. They haven't had a good WR since Diggs. He could turn back into a 1300 yard WR (although that year was skewed by a ridiculous game of over 200 yards).
Reported bills gave a up a 2 round pick for him... I like DJ and playing with Allen cook and those TEs he's going to have a resurgence... let's hope a happy Gonzo with a extension locks him up this season..

Good, i had no interest in DJ Moore.

The Bears didn't draft Loveland, Odunze and Burden in the top 40 in back to back years cause DJ Moore is good, DJ Moore is actually someone who's clearly on the decline.

The Pats and Bills both need a WR1, DJ Moore is just another #WR3 with potential WR2 flashes nowadays.
Yeah he's going really suck with Allen throwing to him...Not! I hate the Bills for this move: the Bills are not conceding the East yet two horse race. I would have loved DJ Moore here.

Some Bears fans were skeptical they they’d be able to trade him without paying some of his salary first.

The Bills took the entire contract plus guaranteed ⅔ of his 2028 (age 31) salary. Gross.

Bills were always going to do something about their WR corps, it isn't very good.

Alec pierce please!...

So many bad takes in this thread. Boutte is the same player as Pierce? Sorry not close to accurate. We are worse off with Pierce then Diggs, no chance that is correct. Pierce with Maye would double the production that Boutte gave you. That is no knock on Boutte but he is not in the same class as Pierce. Maye elevates his receivers including Diggs. No one thinks the QB's Pierce played with elevated anybody. This is the perfect signing just like Milton Williams was last year. It is all about projecting what Pierce would be like with Maye and that projection looks great. He has 13 TD's in the last two years. Solves a lot of issues with this team. I think they land him and I think he will have the same impact on offense that Williams had on the defense. If not Pierce, they have to get Brown. Brown may be better today but he will not be in two years. But you have to land one of these two.

Can they free up space under the cap through restructures and converting signing bonuses to absorb a AJ hit? Oh yes, 100% they can. But if they do, they are crazy. Paid money never goes away. It just gets pushed back more and more. They are already in trouble with $40 million is dead cap. Reed Blankenship, Jordan Davis, and Jalen Carter need new contracts. They have to figure out if Davonta Smith is really their #1. Was Saquon's bad year the sign of his slipping? There are many other players who need to be addressed. Its very messy for them and I think their run is over. They will need a salary cap reset soon like the Rams.

I liked DJ Moore as a #2, last year stats and advanced analytics were bad despite having a great OC.
Without watching tape hard to say why he dropped off. If he plays like last year not worth the price and money but previous years he is

Bears fans basic take online: surprised they got so much for him was thinking 4th rounder, good player but not worth the contract

You weren't kidding:

Brandon Beane is seriously an idiot. That team is going down fast. Their GM decisions are very questionable.

Eagles think someone is going to give them a 1 AND a 2, when they gave up a 1 and a 3, 4 years ago when he wasn't as much of a douchenozzle, had better knees, and makes 30m.
I sure hope we aren't that stupid.
