Disappointing...Not one Congrats Steelers thread

i had a nice time a few years ago listening to plenty of squealer fans talk about our asterisk etc. so enjoy your moment in the sun. How does it feel?
I don't owe pitt fans anything.

well

I think the biggest reason why people are having trouble with the squealer win is that after the game--everyone just sat there stareing at their TV and thinking: "that's the best team this year"? It doesn't matter who's flag your waving, that game (either by the play of the team or the officials) was just terrible. Fans of every team out there was left with the "we could beat either of these teams on a bad day" However it boils down to the fact that the squealers have the lombardi-and that's what matters. Pitt deserved to get to the SB--and then they got handed the lombardi! They got handed teh lombardi because they put themselves in position to have it handed to them. (there is no way you can argue that the seahawks didn't get jobbed on sunday summerall)

Ohh, and nice job squealer fans of pissing off TB. You just insured a front row seat on your couch next year for the superbowl!

I just wanted throw my two cents in on something that has been bothering me about this Board for the past two days. In fairness it's on every other Board around the country as well. But I thought you guys (winning three Super Bowls) could at least appreciate a victory regardless of how ugly or how unfair. There wasn't even one congrats Steelers thread here and with the exception of a few, most have done nothing but whine about the Steelers victory.

Was it a lousy Super Bowl? Yes! Did the refs make some horrible calls that hurt Seattle? Yes! Were most people sick of the two week hype of Bettis/Detroit/parents/Porter-Stevens Yes? Unfortunately the story lines were few this year. Is that the Steelers fault? No! An estimated crowd at the game were 90% Steeler fans. doesn't seem fair to Seattle and impartial fans watching probably don't think that's fair. But Seahawk fans had the same opportunities to purchase $2500 to $3000 tickets just like Steelers fans coughed up the $$$ for but they didn't step up. So is that the Steelers fault? Personally I think it makes quite a statement of the loyatly and fan base of the Steelers. Sure Detroit is much closer to Pitt but it's the Super Bowl.

Pittsburgh looked really bad in the game Sunday and Ben was awful. I have heard so many comments about how lucky they were to win. I'm sure two thirds of the NFL felt like they could have beat Pittsburgh on Sunday based on how they played. Maybe that's true, maybe not. The same could be said about how bad New England played against Denver with all of those turnovers. Bad games happen, but through it all, the Steelers were better than anyone by winning their final four games of the year just to make it to a #6 seed, and then win three road playoff games against some of the toughest teams in the NFL including #1, #2, and #3 seeds. While they were favored they were still a #6 seed playing another #1 seed.

The Indy game which the Steelers suffered far worse calls than Seattle, STILL found a way to win. Seattle did not.

So my questions to you New England fans are. Now that the game is over and all of you who jumped on the robbery bandwagon, what are the Steelers suppose to do? Should they give back the Lombardi trophy? Is this their fault that they still persevered and won?

As I said I am disappointed that you guys didn't step up and give Pittsburgh their due. If I missed it somewhere then I stand corrected. I really don't know if it's the Ben the youngest to win a Super Bowl thing, or just a bitter pill to swallow since you ahve dominated the Steelers in the recent past, but Pittsburgh is this year's Champion. To ridicule our 250,000 parade attendence or next year if you win it will be three in a row (reference being that you don't credit this year to Pitt) is poor sportsmanship.

Here is a link to three articles (two written by the Seattle newspaper and one by ESPN). Sorry for my frustration but it is disappointing that the congratulations here was almost non-existent.

sorry but after what i saw it is simply impossible for me congratulate with the Steelers. believe me...impossible...

i can tell you one thingh: IF it was an European Soccer Game i really do not want to imagine what could have happened...

i still want to respect Holmgren (how he was able to maintain the calm ?)

that game was a shame...it was IMPOSSIBLE for SEA to do something and the zebras gave the game to PIT.

this is what i feel.

it is probably the first time in my life and i love the Nfl, believe me, that i was frustrated in front on my tv at h 04,00 in the morning...

so...i am not able to congratulate at all with the Stillers...

no way...

and i feel still today sorry for Seahawks fans...

The Steelers didn't lose the game and they are SB Champions until we win it next year.

You are asking Patriots fans to give congrats to a team who's fans booed our two MVP's at the game. Who's team members wouldn't shake hands with Brady.

You are asking us to give praise to people who disrespected our players on national television. Instead of looking for us to Congrat the Steelers, Steeler fans should be coming here apologizing for the boorish behavior of their fans and players.

If Rothlisbeger was out there flipping the coin last year I might or might not have booed him, however if it was Manning I'd be a booing loud and clear.
Most here would have also. It's a moot point. If any of us met Manning in person we would shake his hand, same with Steelers fans and Brady.

Congrats to the Steelers for winning the AFC.

Well why didn't you just say congrats Steelers instead of this whiny soapbox post.

If you're a steelers fan, why do you spend so much time in this forum?

You sir, are an attention prostitute. :bricks:

I think the bottom line is that it's true, a lot of people here have been a little over the top when it comes to trash talking the Steelers, but like somebody pointed out, this is a Patriots board. It shouldn't be expected of us to congratulate anybody, no more than it should be expected of us to do anything outside of talk about the Patriots. It's a bit of a shame, I think, how far some guys take their belief that the Steelers "aren't the champs"... but that's their opinion, and it's just as valid as somebody giving props to the Steelers.

I find this to be a weird problem of some NE fans on this board. Just because some guys go a bit too far in one direction of an argument (the Steeler haters), doesn't mean that you should jump onto the other end of extremism (demanding the respect of everybody on the board). The same thing happened when the Broncos beat us because of the turnovers and refs... just because some guys demanded that we were the rightful winners of the game and that the refs lost it for us doesn't mean that you're justified in believing that the Broncos outplayed us and were the better team.

For some reason (I really don't know why - maybe just unbridled hate of the NFC), I was hoping the Steelers would win. That being said, congratulations Steelers on being the World Champs. Not good job on being them, but congratulations.

Very true. Any ref who had performed that badly in a Roma-Lazio, Rangers-Celtic or Manchester United-Liverpool game would be in hiding with Police protection by now.

Congrats to the Steelers for winning the AFC.

Don't count me or any other Patriot fan in your "most' count. I may have ignored him but I wouldn't hve booed them .

And, what about the Steelers players not shaking tom's hand. They are NFL players for gods sake.

Your post does not hold water. But, go ahead and offer your Congrats to them if you want. But, don't try to sound so damn smug and superior to those of us who were pissed by the antics of their players and fans.

INFORTUNATELY, and i repeat one more INFORTUNATELY, you are right and you have the same opinion i have.

i LOVE the fact that in the NFL there is NOT any violence that, again infortunately, exist in Uk, It, De, etc etc on soccer.

BUT after what i saw i thought Holmgren was a 'saint'...

petty, petty, petty as i love the Nfl (the BEST sport in the World).

there was not one or two mistakes but SEVERAL mistakes all in favour of PIT.

Why we should give compliments to the Steelers.

Their fans booed our loved Brady and Branch...

i want an AFC Championship game next year against them more then before...
G O P A T S ! THE ONLY DINASTY IN THE 'SALARY CAP' ERA !

Italianpat, I agree with every word you say!

What is more you are a real fan. I am in awe of someone who watches a game from midnight until 4 in the morning between two teams he does not care for. It's people like you whom the teams and the refs robbed.

(Note to Gomez: you probably noticed the assistant ref give a blatantly off-side goal to MUFC last Saturday -- not the first or probably the last outrageous piece of refereeing there. Soccer refs are totally intimidated. The dodgy home penalty is so much part of soccer that people have stopped noticing.)

A congratultions request is nothing more than a handshake. Simple as that.

I'll uhhhh get back to you on a congrats, err I mean a handshake... when the Steeler team captains shake Tom Brady's hand at the coin toss of the Wuper Bowl... Not until then. It's nothing more than a handshake. Simple as that.

thanks Mike The Brit !

i really love FIRST the Pats (it is a passion for me, believe me...) and i love too all the NFL (as i said: the ONLY and the BEST sport!)

i hope and i think it was only one very bad performace by the referees...

i want to believe so and i still think it was a bad day...

too beautiful is the Nfl for us in Europe (ps = all the games are starting quite late, only the 01,00 a.m. games are 'reasonable' for us...)

Go Pats !

I'll congratulate them when they win a Superbowl. They didn't win XL, the Refs did.

There is a reason I didn't say "any other Patriots fan" in my post. Although I notice you are speaking for any other Patriots fans in yours.
Could you have been any more smug and superior in your reply?

I was not paying close attention after the coin flip but it just seemed like a hurry up deal that happened. If the Steelers players did snub Brady, that would be poor sportsmanship.

Booing happens. Laugh it off. Tom Brady did. It was a compliment in my opinion. I'll bet they wouldn't have booed Pennington.

I gave the Steelers credit on their AFC title. I believe they deserve credit for that.

Yea, I could have but I didn't want to.

Congrats Steelers...for being the most awful team to ever be handed a SB on a black and white striped platter.

There Summeral' do you feel better now? Will your monsters stop coming in the night?

Go make a bed in Stiller land...

Do I understand this correctly: The Steelers NEED a congratulatory thread from fans everywhere? Or just here from New England fans?.... When we won last year and the year before that and 2 years before I couldn't have cared less if anyone that rooted for Pittsburgh or and other team were congratulatory towards the Pats. We won, were the champs till someone beats us next year.

Hey, Pittsburgh, you won, you're the champs till next year......happy now? :rocker:
