It's hilarious to see him in red zone runs where he runs up the middle and all you see is a ripple, like a gopher burrowing a tunnel.

In the open field it looks like defenders are trying to catch a ghost.

I was really disappointed to see Vareen go because it looked like last year he finally started reaching his potential.
Lewis has made me happy Vareen is gone -- Lewis has shown to be better, and if Vareen were here it's quite possible Lewis never gets a chance.

Ok, I will say it and I know it is way too early, but this guy has moves like Barry Sanders. Barry was bigger and a true RB. I don't think I want Dion to have 30+ runs in a game but man, he has the same juke...

I admit that the emergence of this guy has been one of the most bafflingly / surprising / wonderful developments with the Pats in a long time.

Some players emerging on the Pats I can see. Detroit was stupidly trying to make an OT out of Mike Williams, but NE is using him right as a devastating blocker at TE here, I get it. Sheard I can also see, his skill set is perfect for the Pats and Cleveland obviously mis-used him, I get it. We brought in a couple of guys that played fairly well in the 4-3 but struggled with a team conversion to the 3-4, OK, I get that. Also, there are plenty of players that have emerged after a few years, like Ninkovich, I get that too.

But a running back? That is a more instinctual position, one where young guys can make an early impact. Lewis is a guy couldn't get more than a handful of snaps over the last four years, all in his first two years in Philadelphia. And here he looks like a cross between Gale Sayers and Barry Sanders. I just don't get it. Can anyone think of a running back that has been a JAG for four years or so and then suddenly emerged like this guy has?

It just doesn't compute. Can anybody explain this conundrum?

He played like this in college. Who knows what held him back in his early NFL career, but I'm glad to see that he's regained his form.

Barry Sanders was 5-8 200 lbs, and Lewis 5-8 195 lbs, so I'm not sure I see much of a size difference there. We should be careful not to degrade Lewis' potential due to his lack of size. There have been other "true RBs" of similar size. Not only Sanders, but another guy from Pitt by the name of Dorsett went 5-11 192. People said he was too small for the NFL too. Incidentally, Lewis first two years at Pitt were phenomenal (2860 yards, 5.3 ypc, 30 TDs) and compare favorably to Dorsett's (2690 yards, 5 ypc, 24 TDs). I'm not saying Lewis is another Sanders or Dorsett, but neither would I limit his potential due to size. He was drafted as a sophomore and is only 24. This is really his first opportunity and its only been a handful of games, but so far the sky is the limit.
