For the season I think he has 11 sacks and 10 TFL.

Suddenness is the one college trait for the DE/OLB position that translates well to the NFL.

Clearly this is a good game to judge how sudden Curry is at the snap of the ball.

In last year's draft Miller was the most sudden player I have seen in a few years. He is probably the DROY.

Howeve Sheard from Pitt was probably the second most sudden player and he is had a decent rookie year.

if Curry can show me suddenness similar to Sheard, then I will have to put him in my next mock draft.

Actually, that title should go to the taller, bulkier, longer-armed, prototypical Pats OLB Aldon Smith. HE is the guy the Pats need to be looking for a clone of.

Curry is probably a better fit than both Sheard or Miller, though.

Thanks for the reminder, Och. If it wasn't for your post I probably would have missed it. Curry is definitely someone I'm interested in for the Pats.

Now we have to figure out is he a young Mark Anderson (a 4-3 guy totally) or a young Mike Vrable/Willie McG (some versatility).

(Or a young Vernon Gholston, yikes)

I'll be watching the game cuz I like the +5 and Marshall is good on D after playing a tougher schedule than FIU. You all should be watching T.Y. Hilton too. Crazy speed and moves. Could go in the first round if someone reaches for a homerun hitter. Most likely end of second, early third. Would like him on the Pats to replace Deion. Don't know much about his route running since their QB's have been erratic.

We drafted a player out of Marshall last year, I just remembered (Lee Smith).

Have there been any other Marshall picks in the Belichick era?

He explodes off the line.

FIU just ran a jet sweep right over Curry. He was abused and pancaked on that play. So far tonight I don't get the hype. He looks like a big fast dude in a football uniform.

TY Hilton on the other hand....

Well, guess we're waiting for Belichick to pick some random unknown guy at OLB, because there's nobody at the top of the draft that he'll want.

Well, I'm not that unimpressed. If he can't absolutely dominate against a team like FIU what's he gonna do against pro OTs?

Hilton has a ton of speed, but looks like he'd be hurt most of the time. Thin as a rail, who knows?

I meant "not that impressed". That's what I get for posting sleep-deprived.*

*that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

I too was unimpressed with Curry (like everyone else said, FIU, not exactly a SEC team).

T.Y. is an interesting gamble, but he does look too small to last....

T.Y. was always the focus when opposing defenses were looking to stop FIU. He won't be the focus if he's on a team like the Pats. In open space and one on one he'll abuse people. He was brought down rather easily early in the game and then got drilled on one play (a punt or kick return I think) but you all saw the speed and cutting ability. He won't be the go to guy in the pros so hopefully he won't get abused that much. He would be a good on this team.

I like the suddenness that Curry played with. It seemed to me that FIU ran away from him all game.

Curry has some really rough edges to his game and looked to be frustrated in the second half.

I still like Curry at OLB in our 3-4 in the late second or early third.
