Surely you are not advocating moving Peterson to safety, are you? He is being compared to some of the best CB's out there (albeit prematurely for NFL).

Mayock said it first, then apologized to Peterson saying a move to safety would be down the road a few years.

Thanks for the clarification. I am thinking whoever drafts him will play him at his more natural position. At least at this point, no NFL team has approached him about the prospect of moving as of yet.

Like many other CB's of good size, at 6'1" Peterson will be talked of moving to safety eventually 'down the road' as you say. Just like Springs at 6' ft+, and just like Smith from Miami at 6'3"--although they haven't played much safety, if any.

A lot has been written about Peterson. If I were drafting him in the top 5, it would be as a safety. For amny, he projects as a reasonable starter at corner, and as an all-pro safety.

In these circumstances, some would play him at corner. I disagree.

However, I am not ADVOCATING anything. Whooever drafted will decided how he fits into their system.

Well, considering that is sounds like you are 'arguing on his behalf' in regards to moving him to safety, which is the textbook definition of advocating, (or ADVOCATING as you put it), maybe you can see why I used the word.

I truly don't care if he moves to the UFL and plays TE for the West Virginia Hicklickers.

If you were offended by the use of the term then I suppose I apologize.

No offense taken at all. I was just trying to clarify.

I guess when Mayock realized that his comment might cost Peterson millions, he retracted it. After all, Mayock thinks that Peterson is the 3rd best player in this draft.

Actually, "contribute right away" does not imply starting (or shouldn't). NE with Seymour, Warren, and Wilfork platooned them with veteran DL their rookie seasons. .

It also serves to note, or maybe not, that all three played NT in their first season. I'm not sure if it's predictive, but it is interesting.

Why would Mayock's comments cost anyone millions? Do you think NFL GMs and draft scouts listen to Mike Mayock and Todd McShay?

I really don't think we relinquish #33 because it is the first pick of the 2nd day so there is an entire night to sleep on it.

I am liking Allen Bailey with a 2nd round pick. He lines up on both sides, creates excellent pressure in stand up and 3 point, and in the instances i have seen, sheds well.

This is an excellent point and and in my mind, it is why we need to draft at least one D Linemen in the first round.

If T Warren is healthy, we start T Warren at one DE spot and Wilfork on the nose. Who starts opposite T Warren? Deaderick? Stroud? G Warren? Wright? Love? Yuck!

We draft Wilkerson and /or Taylor in the first round. Both have experience inside and can play some nose while learning to play DE.

I think Stroud may play surprisingly well at RDE, at least notably better than G. Warren and sufficiently well to allow Wilfork to stay inside. Not saying he'll be elite or a long term solution, just a more than adequate upgrade for the short term while a new RDE learns the ropes through whatever process.

Not all front offices are as good as ours. Many, many would do better if they listened to Mayock's comments and ratings. Also, Mayock could have started a seed of doubt, that perhaps Peterson is really a safety. Unless I were really, really sure of my ability to evaluate players, I might consider Mayock's comments before making Peterson a top 5 pick. Perhaps you believe that the personnel departments of the bottom ten teams are so good that comments by guys like Mayock, Gosselin and Casserly should ignored.

Heck, if I were the Cowboy front office, I would consider Gosselin's analyses when developing by draft board, with values and decision points. Why wouldn't you do so?

Just BTW, do you think that Nawrocki's comments regarding Newton are being totally ignored?

Why would Mayock's comments cost anyone millions? Do you think NFL GMs and draft scouts listen to Mike Mayock and Todd McShay?

Indeed, sir.

I could be wrong, but I get a VERY strong sense that Marcus Stroud is going to prove to be a CLASSIC Patriot reclamation success: Not the Stroud of LORE, mind you, but a FORCE on this D Line for the next couple years or so...

I tend to agree with this also. I like the low cost pickup.
