Dante Scarnecchia still involved with Patriots in his retirement

glad to see he has chosen to still do some work for the Patriots... his acumen and love for the history of the game helps all understand why he and Bill got along so famously.

Scarnecchia, who retired as the team’s offensive line coach in January, actually played a key role as the Patriots prepared for this month’s draft, dishing out scouting reports on two of the three linemen they selected.

Scarnecchia visited Stanford to work with right tackle Cameron Fleming, and the legendary line boss also traveled to Florida State after the season. There, he met up with offensive line coach Rick Trickett, a longtime friend, and evaluated the Seminoles’ talented group of big uglies, including center Bryan Stork. Scarnecchia passed along Trickett’s high praise of Stork, a fourth-rounder who was the Patriots’ highest-drafted interior lineman since Logan Mankins in 2005.

Steve Belichick went to coaching clinics and was consulted on areas of particular expertise at least into his 70s, and did some volunteer coaching for the Patriots in his 80s.
