Are you seriously going to argue this? Do you think the Pats would have said "we can take the over $11 million cap hit over the next two years for cutting Hernandez" if he was just under performing rather than killing one of his friends? Do you think the Pats would have cut Fanene if they didn't think they could recoup some or all of the bonus money paid out in a grievance?

Your argument failed because you took situations with extraordinary circumstances and other situations with players cut with much less dead money and trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

No I don’t think that’s what he wanted, but I think Belichick and Kraft did with the Hernandez situation what they do with all player personnel decisions which are to do what is best for the team. If walking away from Amendola or any player is considered to be the best move in their minds this offseason they will do so regardless if they count for $25 million against the cap or $500 against the cap.

Also I am not making any argument I put a list of players that count for $1 million or more on the 2013 cap, you’ve taken that list and let your imagination run amuck and created this argument on my behalf. You can keep arguing with me I will be here let me know how if I win or lose when you have finished :argue:

My vendetta :lol2: you take this game way to seriously, you know sports are supposed to be fun and being a fan is supposed to enjoyable right? I do not have any vendetta, I just don’t believe that Belichick lets the salary cap dictate who he keeps if they’re underperforming. If Belichick based things on salary cap figures you’d see the following:

Kyle Arrington starting over Dennard at right cornerback
Logan Ryan starting over Dennard at right cornerback
Tavon Wilson ahead of Harmon on the depth chart
Josh Boyce ahead of Thompkins on the depth chart
Will Svitek starting over Cannon at right tackle
Leon Washington would be our #1 RB
Jake Bequette would be ahead of Andre Carter and Michael Buchanan

These are all the players that affected our cap in 2013:

What in the world are you talking about?

Good meltdown.

Meltdown? OK you and I clearly aren’t having the same discussion so I am going to move on now because I think you have some things you need to work out on your own. Good day sir!

What in the world are you talking about?

I am pointing out the players cap figures do not determine their roles or whether they’re part of the teams rosters. Belichick will make the decision he feels is best for the team no matter what the salary cap implications are at the time.

Perhaps you should start 10 or 12 new worthless threads now instead of commenting anymore in this one.

Thank you for the advice. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Mr. Moosekill :kiss2:

Option 4: Rotational WR depending on which diminutive fragile glass-like player (JE/DA)) was duck-taped up the best to play that day

Good that we can both agree you aren't making any argument because basically using the fact that the Pats cut an alleged mass murder as proof the Pats will do whatever is best for the team is a ridiculous argument.

Except you did not point to one example remotely close to Amendola's situation and/or cap hit. One million dollars of dead cap space is nothing and a fraction of Amendola's cap hit if cut.

I just listed Hernandez because he was on the list I didn’t want to leave him off because that could be perceived as my trying to sway people in a different manner.

He is an alleged murderer in Mass, but he is actually not an alleged mass murderer. He is charged with 1 count of murderer, the other indictment has yet to be filed or they were unable to provide the grand jury with the evidence needed to get an indictment. Off topic a lot of experts have started to shift their opinion and suggest Hernandez will not be convicted, I find that to be interesting, he is trail will almost certainly be one of the most interesting news stories of 2014.

I didn’t get into any numbers, I just highlighted that we move away from players despite their cap impact for a magnitude of reasons therefore people should not hang their hat on the idea that Amendola is certain to be back because of his salary cap implications, if Danny is back its because Bill wants him here otherwise he will be on the next flight out of here :plane:

FYI - $2 million of his 2014 salary is fully guaranteed meaning that if released his 2014 cap hit would actually increase from its present value of $4,543,750 to $6,800,000. Plus, another player would replace DA in the Top 51 list.

No you are pointing out that rosters go to 90 then are cut to 53 and every player that doesn't make the cut has a dead money hit.

You argued that since the Pats took a dead money hit of $1 million for a guy like Ras I Dowling (which had minimal impact on their cap number) as proof that they would certainly take a $6.8 million dead money hit for Amendola.

As Miguel points out, Two million of $3 million of Amendola's 2014 salary is fully guaranteed. Why would the Pats cut a guy and pay him him 2/3 of his base salary unless he gave them actually no value whatsoever? The fact that 2/3 of Amendola's salary is 100% guaranteed in 2014 means that he is a virtual lock for the 2014 roster.

You can fantasize about Amendola being cut in the offseason. But the reality is that he is almost guaranteed a roster spot in 2014. Unless he gets IRed, he will be final 53 man roster. Any other argument against it is just wishful thinking on your part.

Perhaps a thread comparing Danny and Tim Tebow!

I think attacking Amendola is a round about way to still kill the Pats for not re-signing Welker without actually mentioning his name.

Amendola when healthy is a real threat that teams have to be concerned about. The question is whether he can stay healthy, be he deserves another year to prove that.

Perhaps, he gets fewer reps in the slot than Edelman (not starting). Even then, he won't be released.

Starting for the Patriots or released?

Edelman is finally on pace to finish a season healthy (knock on wood). Amendola finished his first 2 seasons healthy. He can do it, he just has to reduce those big hits.

Amendola will stay. I hope Jules does to. We know that when both are healthy, they are tough for defenses to cover with our other weapons.

I think he'll be there, starting, as the Pats are enticed by his possibilities and they won't want to give up on him after one injury plagued year. The question is whether next year will be the same as this one, with an injury early on and unrealized potential the result. If that happens again, I predict he won't be on the team two years from now.

I don’t think that Amendola having the cap hit that he does assure him a place on this team. We have cut players before that underperformed even it resulted in short term cap hit, these players all had $1 million plus hits against our 2013 cap and did not make the roster:

Aaron Hernandez
Brandon Lloyd
Jonathan Fanene
Adrian Wilson (IR)
Chad Johnson
Ras-I Dowling

If Belichick is not the type to be handcuffed by a cap number.

Aaron Hernandez is sui generis.

Amendola would cost an extra $3M if cut next year, and that has to be part of the calculus next year.
