I can't see the advantages of using video to record signals. I'm no surveillance expert, but why couldn't anyone with a digital SLR and a long lens shoot 10-15 frames of the defensive coach(es) every time he's sending in a signal? These images could be transmitted wirelessly to a couple guys with TiVos (anywhere) who could match up the hand signals with the defensive coverages, who could probably decipher the signals after 20 plays or so. I would guess that most teams (except maybe the Chiefs) have figured out ways to record signals without using video. A hand-held video camera operated by a Patriots staff member standing on the sideline? So crude, so un-Patriot-like.
