That was my impression too. Every witness has the same introduction line to them:

c'mon guys --- somebody happened to intercept a ball and noticed right away it felt a pound off, they confirmed with a gauge, at which point they did their civic duty and reported it to kensil instead of a ref, for some reason.
kensil rushed to alert his buddies who persevered through the shock of the whole thing to do what was right and measure all the balls -- except the colts balls.

especially when the interceptor says he didn't notice anything and the average measurement of the ball was 11.52 PSI (again, almost exactly what would be expected). Yeah...no sting.

Every witness was sworn in by a notary of NY. If you are sworn in then you are under oath.

Stings aren't illegal. However, letting the game be impacted ("Integrity of the game!") in order to run one is slimy as all hell, and it is also blatant hypocrisy.

The sting isn't "possible," or even "probable."

We've seen email documentation that the league was "alerted" prior to the game, and was willing to let the first half be played using allegedly tampered-with footballs, all to catch the Pats in the act.

That, by definition, is a sting.

The only thing up for debate is whether the investigation was just laughably poor process or a straight up frame.

I wonder if anyone saw the fist bump before they put their jackets on.

Does anyone think the NFL was actually stupid enough to think they would get away with this that there was no way Brady would take this to court? After reading the transcripts I cannot think of 1 reason why they would have been so confident to uphold suspension and risk it going to court. ..if so how sad is it that this is the type of people running one of the most powerful organizations, boy did they underestimate Brady!

That is awesome! I hope there's more slaps to the nfls face coming......please, please, please let a smoking gun come out that shows the nfl set this whole thing up, Brady did nothing wrong, to where not even the biggest hater could deny this was all the nfls doing.

But the way the NFL normally operates is that they get a complaint about a team doing something (e.g.- using deflated balls) and then the league sends a warning out to the team saying in essence "We've had a complaint so knock it off. We may be checking for the infraction in your next game". Instead what happened was a complaint was made and then a few NFL officials kept it under their hat (for the most part. They did tell Walt Anderson that their had been a complaint and to make sure the balls were regulation) and then ran their sting when the Colts (who were more probable than not in on it) illegally stuck a needle in a ball on the sideline.
