Curran article on Jets tampering

Excellent article. The league front office is a clown car.

Tommy needed to mention the prior instances & warning that the Jets received regarding tampons, I mean tampering.

Also, I think Bedard & Curran had some kind of banter on Twitter yesterday yet I'm too Twitter illiterate to see the whole convo in context. Bedard, as much as I appreciate and like the guy, sometimes confuses an "unbiased" opinion with "an opinion that represents the opposite of what most fans think" and therefore lets how people will react to his opinion influence his opinion. Curran's spot-on. What Woody said was literally the definition of what the league describes as tampering. The league can't pick and choose went to get all hot & bothered about stuff for their own convenience.

NFL Anti-Tampering Policy
ƒ
Public/Private Statements:
Any public or private statement of interest, qualified or unqualified, in another club’s player to that player’s agent or representative, or to a member of the news media, is a violation of this Anti-Tampering Policy. (Example of a prohibited comment: “He’s an excellent player, and we’d very much like to have him if he were available, but another club holds his rights.”) All clubs should be aware that improper disclosure of confidential trade discussions with another club may be a violation of this section on prohibited public statements.

Discipline:

Any violation of this Anti-Tampering Policy will subject the involved club and/or person to severe disciplinary action by the Commissioner.
The League office will promulgate to all clubs the details of any penalties imposed for tampering

It's a clear cut violation that calls for a severe penalty and it regards one of the best players in the league, I don't know how this could go unpunished.

Jan 18 mid-morning reported the Pats filed tampering charges against the jests
Jan 19 just after midnight the deflation stuff came out

Coincidence? Hell no.

I'd bet anything Kensil leaked the tampering charges knowing what was probably going to be happening that night. Best to get his beloved jests stuff out first that way it can be buried by the Pats stuff.

I wish I could click the Winner button on every article Tom E has written since January. Guy is on fire. I haven't seen a media member make this much sense consecutively in a long-time.
It's like he reads the forums and then reports on it (with additional information) :D

I could almost see the Jets getting away with this, EXCEPT, Woody was warned IN WRITING about this same behavior within the year. If they let it slide then the league's true colors will be laid bare for all to see.
This like of selective discipline will remind the literate among us of "Animal Farm", where all the animals were equal, except for some who were considered more equal.

If I were Bob Kraft and this is ignored, or handled with a slap on the wrist, I would declare war on Roger Goodell and his minions.

I would start looking a legal options against the league. I would hire PI's to tail the league leakers and ESPN staff to find out where the bodies are buried. Some of these guys are going to strip joints and casinos, etc. Lets let them see what its like to be the subject of a scurrilous investigation. I'd hire the best PR people in the country and do a full reboot of "cameraplacementgate". Take a few years if that's what it takes to get the true story that what the Pats did was arrogant and disrespectful, but NOT cheating. I would also take the time to put together all the examples of when other teams like the Bronco's, Cowboys, Niner's and other were caught ACTUALLY cheating and start a media rush to tarnish those franchises.

Enough is enough. F**k it if the league is damaged as a whole. Its time they took some heat for the disaster after disaster of the last 5 years. If he doesn't do something like this, he ought to just change the team's name to the NE Cheaters, because that's how the rest of the country will ALWAYS view us. We have to either fight it or embrace it.

Make a statement rodg, take their first round pick. Integrity of the game is at stake!

I would love to hear Roger's explanation for not punishing the jets if he does let them slide.

"We wrote the rules for tampering and the jets broke the rules. So we warned them not to do it again. Then the jets tampered again. So this time we gave them a really really stern warning"

Any chance this is related to the BB beatdown that occurred during the Bill Bye the Science guy press conference?

Actually, he does. I forget what his handle is but he's made like 20-something posts here.

That's a nice job by TEC.

Some of the comments, on that article, though...o_O
For some people, the NFL rules apparently only apply to the Patriots. The 31 other teams aren't really doing anything wrong.

This explains well the apparent contradictory feelings that I have where I love the Pats but despise the NFL.

It's called schizophrenia

NY Daily News hack apologist Manish (he sure is) Mehta describes Woody's words as harmless and that
the Pats are throwing a hissy fit. Way to tow the company line, shill. Damn, I hate NY.

And, yet, Jets fans hate Mehta with a fury as hot as the fire of a thousand suns, because they think he's very biased against the Jets. Sounds awfully familiar...

Fans often aren't all that different from place to place within the same region.
