I agree with Deus, but for different reasons. The people who call the Pats cheap won't be silenced by the new info about Welker/Amendola because they don't pay attention to real information, and don't have any interest in doing so. They buy into the "Superstars" theory of NFL success. The Pats have a different philosophy that causes them to avoid these signings (although they've made a few).
The only relevant measure is the percentage of the salary cap that is spent. Contracts for individual players are irrelevant in determining "cheapness."
