Wow. We have dead certain yesses and almost as dead certain nos.
We also have a prediction of a 6M APY deal, citing a variety of motivational factors. I would love that, as a fan of the team, but what is wrong with "if Randy feels like he should be paid pretty well, but not at the tip-top of the market"?
Call me crazy, but I think that suggests more like 7.5 M/APY, 5 years, 20M up-front. Still a significant discount, but 6 APY is just so low for the top wideout in the game, it's hard to see it.
On one side: Randy can make a case that any amount in historical wideout remuneration is a lowball offer. He won't.
On the other side: The Patriots can make the point that he becomes a far lesser wideout absent Tom Brady. That leaves an iffy claim by the Packers, a good claim by the Colts, or a very specious claim by any of a half dozen other teams, that those teams can give Moss the QB he deserves. (and the Packers' claim is shelf dated.)
Who knows though. I just have Monday off, and am by now a forum addict.
