Supply and demand.

Don't have a link, but remember someone saying the QBs out of this upcoming draft is the weakest in 20 years. Along with more than a few needy teams, the price on Jimmy Garoppolo could be high.

Then there is this story the free agent market is very weak: Worst NFL free-agent pool ever won't stop desperate teams from diving in wallets first

This increases the leverage.

Then there is the question of will Gronk be traded? Stay tuned.

And New England is 5th in cap space heading into the 2017 free agency season

Many of you guys know more about this than I, but this is not a bad position.

Supply and demand will kill us with our own free agents ( Ryan, Harmon, Bennett, branch) but could help us significantly on the trade front (JimmyG).

The upper hand we have is in being the franchise in the NFL and allowing any player out there decide what is most important to them.

They will most likely do what they always do restock through the draft and sign middling free agents or aging veterans that want a ring. When was the last time the Patriots signed a big time FA from another team?

Addalus Thomas?

How'd that turn out.

Curran, on EEI today, suggested Harmon would be the first to sign because other teams might not value him as highly. On this board, most figure some will overpay for him...

Looking forward to seeing how everything shakes out.

They won't resign everybody. I still feel bennett and ryan will be gone. i think they can get another corner elsewhere or through the draft.

I guess we could. We get to draft this year...
