Even the left leaning Snopes fact check says Trump never called the virus a hoax. I’d encourage you to go back and listen to what was actually said, instead of what it says on your Facebook feed. This whole “Trump called it a hoax” is like a litmus test for how rational or unbiased a content source is on this topic.
Snopes does not lean left. Statement of fact. Moving on.
The swill you're gargling and spewing back out at us is a litmus test for how much you've fallen for the presto-chango 10-second revisionism cycle.
Regarding the "Hoax" language:
What he said was:
"This is their new hoax."
"This" is an indefinite pronoun.
Much earlier in the "speech," he said "the Democrats are politicizing coronavirus."
Ex post facto, he decided that it wasn't faiirrrrrrrr that he got reported as saying "This is their new hoax" because he meant "[The democrats are politicizing coronavirus] is their new hoax."
That aint what he said.
He said "And this is their new hoax."
The statement "The democrats are politicizing coronavirus is their new hoax" is not English and it is not what he said. There were also dozens or hundreds of words between the statements. Most of them, as you would notice if you actually paid attention, were absolutely polarizing mimicry against "they", "them," "the Democrats," etc.
(Side-track: I love how he mocks that they "can't even count" the votes in Iowa, meanwhile, he's crisscrossing the country, refusing to test for coronavirus, and counting to 15, which I suppose is the highest number he learned?)
Pretty much all your boy does is call names and lie. So really, that's a joke from day one that he's treated "unfairly" or that "the other side" or whatever is "politicizing" anything.
If anything, what's unfair is to have to discuss him as if he were devoting thought to his pablum, as if he's constructing logical arguments that must be countered. His followers, of course, beclown themselves the same way.
In any event, what, pray tell, did "this" mean, in the statement that he actually said?
"This is their new hoax"?
If a Democrat said that, you'd absolutely tie yourself in knots misreporting it, as you're tying yourself in knots trying to misreport your way out of what he said.
But you know what? The big point here is, only his minions are wrapped around the axle about how he meant this single word, this time, having misused it to excuse himself dozens of other times from a laundry list of problems.
The far larger point is that he was speaking to a
rally, when everybody in his right mind was promoting social distancing. He was minimizing the virus, when everybody in his right mind was sounding the alarm.
His self-congratulatory shtick is "mission accomplished" x 1 million, and that doesn't even scratch the surface. Because of his inaction where action was indicated, many more are going to die than otherwise would have.
We had news out of China by the end of December. We had that time to prepare. We could have prepared (or accepted when offered) the necessary test kits. We could have made an attempt at containment. We did not. These were the president's calls.
We did not try to contain this virus.
We did not try to contain this virus.
We did not try to contain this virus.
So yeah, I'm not fond of politicizing this stuff. So stop politicizing my thread with your excuses for the C-in-C, or just shut up when others engage you in your politicization.
Or is this another of those things where the proper response to gun nut school massacres is "thoughts and prayers"?
Even now, he's bizarrely playing pocket pool, refusing to mount a federal response by distributing needed stockpiles. I'm starting to think he sold the ventilators. Why not? He disbanded the pandemic task force. We know that this administration had neglected the "use by" dates on at least some masks to the point that the elastic crumbled when they were taken out of their packaging. Is that what he's hiding by hoarding federal resources? Has he let perish all the perishable and sold the sellables?
This lack of response is one big WTF.
So yeah if you want to stay apolitical I am glad to do that, but leave your underinformed, illogical, semantically bankrupt sophistic excuses at home if you don't want to see politics in this conversation. You don't get to say "Here's my politics, it's a pity you're all so political."
Thanks. I really needed to respond to this bizarre package of excuses and charges one more time before getting back to whatever else there is to talk about -- perhaps the coming deaths, whether one of us will lose someone, etc.
