You don't understand the point I'm making? You're kidding right? Stinkypete said we will beat you probably twice this year, kind of tough to do since we won't be playing the Donkos twice this year; my point was he thinks you are a fan of a team other than the one which are.
I have respected most of your comments since you joined our forum, but your statement questioning whether the Patriots will make the playoffs this year is probably THE STUPIDEST THING any troll has ever written on this forum. Just outright moronic, even from a Donko fan.
I just have to ask; what makes you possibly think they will not make the playoffs considering they were 59 seconds from their fourth super bowl in six years, while your team got knocked out of the playoff hunt by the 49ers.
WOW, I think those pain killers you are popping have pickled your brain.
Did you think we'd miss the playoffs last year? Remember, you did miss them in 2002 and won the SB the year after. Injuries happen, cancers (AKA Randy Moss) happen, and other unforseen things happen. For all you know, Tom Brady could get in a car accident tomorrow and be out for the season. Don't get premature. Everyone is 0-0 at the moment.
Of course, I don't think you'll miss the playoffs, but it's a possibility. I'm not questioning whether or not you will, just telling you to not get ahead of yourself. You still have to play the games you know.
Also, what makes you all think we won't make the playoffs this year? As far as I can tell, we have addressed our largest needs in Free Agency and the draft. At the end of the season, our problem was that
A) We couldn't run the football and eat up clock time to close out games
B) Because of this, the defense blew fourth quarter leads in five of our seven losses
C) Darrent Williams, God rest his soul, was having a sophomore slump
D) We weren't getting pressure on the QB
We addressed A by getting Travis Henry, who barring catastrophic injury should be a 1500 yard back in our system, and getting Daniel Graham to help our young RT and to be a safety valve on third down to keep drives going. We've also acquired two new O-lineman in FA and the draft and have several extremely promising youngsters (Erik Pears, Chris Kuper, Chris Meyers)
We fixed B by getting a new Defensive Coordinator. Jim Bates is one of the most respected DC's in the league. He tutored Jason Taylor, KBG, and several other elite D-Lineman. Larry Coyer had totally lost our defense by the end of the year, and Jim Bates is known for being an excellent motivator. He also doesn't play "bend but don't break" defense, which should help us not losing by a field goal in four games.
C, we've gotten Dre Bly. He's a number one corner playing against number two recievers. We also have Champ Bailey. 'Nuff said.
For D, look no further than the draft. We got ourselves a pass rush. Along with Elvis Dumervil, we have a number of young rookies and some solid veterans and I can finally say I am comfortable with the Defensive Line. Jarvis Moss and Marcus Thomas are risks, but if they can lay off the hippie lettuce then they'll pay enormous dividends. Tim Crowder is a very athletic LDE who should excel in our system. With the tutelage of Jim Bates, our D-Line issues seem to be looking up. Elvis Dumervil had 8.5 sacks as a rookie, and I expect that number to go up dramatically now that he hopefully won't be double teamed.
The only wild card is Jay Cutler. He's been at our facility every single day since mid February working on footwork and getting timing down with his recievers, according to Mike Shanahan. Of course, he could have a sophomore slump, but he's been doing everything right so far and he ended last year with an 88.5 QB rating, the best among rookies. If he excels, the Broncos will excel. If he fails, the Broncos will fail.
Just don't discount us yet.
