Well,
This game against San Francisco was a great game in that it reminded me of many games of the pre-Brady era. We fell behind, rallied and kept slugging away until the whistle blew and we won.
Sure, we lost some games back then as well. Heck, for those who weren't around before, the standard game outline used to be "Score early, fall behind, rally late, and fall short". Then we got Drew and things seemed to work out where we won more than we lost, on average. Many were nail-biters, and that was okay.
With Brady, it was lead at half-time and never look back.
Still, there is something to be said about Cassel and these talented Patriots fighting and clawing for points, and stubbornly holding on to win a game. It reminds me of the old days, and to be honest, it is much more thrilling to have the outcome in doubt, sitting on the edge of your seat and hoping for that one great play to clinch the game, than in watching a scoreboard that looks like it belongs at a Celtics game.
Mind you, I'm NOT arguing against Tommy Brady being the QB. I hope he heals fast and comes back to QB the team for several more years. However, I have no problems with Matt Cassel at QB in his absence. I think that we are pretty well served, and depending upon how things go next weekend, we should get into the playoffs and do quite well.
Anyway, that's my thoughts on the whole season so far. I would prefer Brady, but I can't complain about Cassel and how he's doing so far. I've been a fan since they drafted Jim Plunkett, and I know from bad seasons. So far, this aint one of them.
Other tams should be so lucky. Heck, we might have had Sage Rosenfels under center
Respects,
