Congrats Revis and Moving Forward
With all seriousness, congrats to Revis for this contract. He deserves the $ after this season for playing out the contract, but the Jets are fools for such a high guaranteed amount. Revis has a history of injuries, as we all know, and convention says that he won't be the same these next few seasons due to age and wear and tear. Sometimes you live by the sword and sometimes you die, and the Patriots made out like bandits this past season with Revis's deal and a Super Bowl. If anything, we should think fondly about getting the guy for a bargain and then not being stupid enough to sell the farm for one player. Now, the priority becomes upgrading across the board on the defense: the linebackers are excellent, but we need a few new corners and a DT. Would trading up in the draft be an option? I might also take a chance on Jake Long.
