College Football: Urban Meyer "retiring" from Ohio State

If you've seen him on the sidelines it looks like his issues (he had brain surgery a few years ago) are bothering him significantly. I doubt you'll see him coaching for anyone again.

Will he be a Patriots "consultant" come January?

His health may keep him from a full-time gig. He has a brain cyst that gives him very frequent headaches.

Yeah, he clearly struggled to get through the year. It’s hard to believe that they’ll likely go 13-1 with a win over Washington on New Year’s Day.

Biggest scumbag in college football and that’s saying something.
Yep, he's certainly one of them.

Bill has lousy taste in friends.

NCAA must be hot on his ass...same reason why Pete Carrol & Chip Kelly "retired" from the college game.

Have to wonder how many of OSU's 2019 and 2020 recruits are going to flip now that Meyer is leaving...

He could barely get through the season. He’s been doubled over on the sidelines twice this year during games. Doctors have told him that he’s greatly jeopardizing his health/future by trying to coach with his condition and he hasn’t been able to do some of the recruiting trips, etc.

He’s reportedly considering some TV broadcast work, as well as some lighter form of employment in the OSU offices down the road.

Although by all accounts he said Dunlap was the star and Bill went for Jerome Cunningham. Blah.

Don't understand the hate.
Meyer is hired to win.
Meyer wins.
Pretending Meyer or any big time NCAA coach is supposed to be a virtuous role model charged with molding testosterone infused gridiron maulers into upstanding citizens of the world is........laughable.

The football dynasty universities.....Nebraska, Oklahoma, USC, Florida, FSU, OSU, Bama, etc.......all have operated under the same model:
Recruit, Win, $$$$$$$$, Don't get caught, Recruit, Win, $$$$$$$, Don't get caught.....
(And don't forget to befriend local law enforcement)
Notre Dame...????....I think the Pope deploys a secret fund when he's not covering up other excesses. :)

The NCAA is FIFA ....but instead of corrupt executives pocketing millions on the sly (FIFA), disingenuous universities disguised as educators have rigged an exploitative system to reap billions off the sweat and toll of their indentured widgets.

Want to win fast...hire Meyer
Want more Alumni contributions....hire Meyer
Want to be relevant...hire Meyer

Want wholesome sport, watch D3

Just a guess here that working in the Human Resources Department won't be his assignment

And take a pay cut?

As opposed to being retired and spending all of his time with his family. He mentioned a new granddaughter on the way and pointed to his health concerns. I dunno. He’s been making 7-8m a year for awhile now. He should have his finances in order. It seemed like he didn’t have much of a choice due to pressure from his family. They were crying on the sidelines a few weeks ago.
