Cole Was Cut To Add Incentives

You mean no one wanted to pay Cole enough for him to want to go elsewhere. Cole has the opportunity to look around earlier in the offseason. He CHOSE the patriots. Also, given that the roster was cut to 51, it is clear that the team didn't need to cut Cole. They offered him incentives. They then cut him so that they could sign the new contract. And just BTW, it cost the team some extra cap money since the vet minimum discount is no longer applicable. You may not like, but the team wants Cole on the squad.

If other teams wanted to sign him, they would have been able to right? So if the Pats really did use this exercise to just renegotiate his contract, they did so in a risky manner. Luckily, no other team thought he was worth a roster spot.

Yes, but, as a general rule, if you're on a vet-min deal, it's unlikely anyone else wants you that badly.
