so ****ing what? he's here, now.

His draft spot means absolutely nothing except the ability to keep him for a fifth year.

I get it... he wasn't a great pick for the first round... SOOOOOOO????? people have to learn to let **** go...

and if people are still bringing up McVay and the pick, this is for you

So they could have picked a better player. Since he was too high on their board, they passed on other, better players. Heck, they even traded down to get him.

So what?

All that is history. Water over the dam. Gone.

That plus ten bucks will buy you a Starbucks Grande. Go savor that while you fret you could’ve had an entire meal at McDonalds. Or go to Mickie D’s and while you enjoy your burger regret not going to Starbucks. Is it really fun for you being so negative? It’s not fun for us reading it constantly.

Try proof reading my post.
You’re right I assumed you would know what it takes to be All Pro and that’s just wrong. Forgive my assumption.

He needs to stay healthy for anyone to consider signing him. Mcvay laughed at us for taking him in the first round.
Yes, after the 2025 season, the patriots and others will consider signing Strange. For me, that is NOT a now or even a 2025 question.

what part of "it was 3 years ago" don't you understand?

Let's allow him to get some game time action these next few games. Get through the off season and prepare to focus on whatever position he ends up playing and being his best at it. Available is the best ability. Great we have him back! Now let's get a real LEFT TACKLE!!

I wish we knew whether he'll likely amount to much. I don't think we saw enough before the injury to know. I don't recall his having wowed anybody pre-injury, but I do recall broad bafflement that the Pats drafted him as high as they did.
I’d put good money on him being out of the league in two years. He’s shown nothing then gets injured , then again, and then again. What’s not to like ?

He played well.

He played in 27 of 29 games before he suffered a freak injury from a leg whip.

The only way he's out of the league is if the patellar tear permanently destroyed his knee

If Strange can provide an upgrade at either LG or Center in the last few games, and then works at Center all offseason, then he may be a good long-term replacement for Andrews - who may be done - while keeping chemistry at LG for 1 more year? And if Wallace can do the same at RT, then all we'll absolutely need for next year is a blue-chip LT.

Rookie/FA - Strange/Sow - Andrews/Strange - Onwenu - Wallace

with Robinson, Brown, Lowe, C. Jones as backups.

That would be great development for both Strange and the team.

This is not a complicated situation.

Strange is signed for 2025. He needs to get some serious game reps so that we can see where he might compete in 2025.
That's a pretty obvious forgone conclusion. Clomery would even agree!

Yeah, just to be clear, my view is that we really don't know how good he will or will not be. We didn't learn much before the injury and we know nothing re the effect his injury might have. I suspect we may not know much more by year's end than we know now, which would make it foolish to include him as a key element of our future plans. I suppose he's "a project player" at this point, which is somewhat less than you hope for in a player drafted so high.

As it's said in the NFL once a player gets injured they don't get healthier as thier career goes on.

we learned that he was a solid, every game starting guard in this league pre-injury.......above average run blocker......PFF grades, if you believe in them, had him upper third and at times higher amongst guards his first year as a starter, if memory serves

if he's healthy, he'll be the best G the patriots have......but i also expect a full-time move to center before all is said and done

and if healthy, i expect him to stay with the pats......his price should be decent to re-sign unless his 2025 is stellar

Strange became highly rated after the Senior Bowl and combine, where he registered one of the highest RAS scores for an offensive lineman in history. He was on every team's radar.
