If you are the PATS, do you trade Chad Jackson for Troy Smith straight up?

Haha this thread sucks and the trade wouldn't make sense for either team.

Why does anyone continue to think we'd get anything of value in exchange for Chad Jackson? There are 2 things that are going to happen for him: 1) he continues to stink and he will be cut before the season; or 2) he finally wakes up and becomes a decent player for the Pats.

I'm hoping for 2, but I'm thinking 1.

I hate to say it because I was really, really, really excited when they drafted him, but the way he was dropping, running bad routes (part of the reason Cassel looked bad IMO) and then smiling like an idiot on the sidelines makes me believe #1 is more likely. I'm hoping otherwise. All he had to do was cut in on that one play and he likely gives us what we wanted to see -- at least a little bit. But no, never, never trade for Troy Smith.

I'd rather have a draft pick than a QB because they aren't releasing O'Connel after spending a third on him.

Lost of overreaction to one game with the backup QB as the number 1 receiver. When we need him to be the #3/4 receiver with the starting QB. O, and the #1 and 2 receivers are Moss and Welker.

This trade is a hideous idea. You are trading a 2nd round pick who you haven't really gotten to see in extended game action for a 6th round QB who's value you are basing on one preseason game. One of the worst trade proposals I've ever seen.

Re: CJackson for TSmith ...

I think Jackson has upside, but I don't think he has the brains.
I agree.
Didn't Dougie get the gate for the same thing?

this poll is horrific.

Don't you never say nothing bad about Mr. Jackson!

This poll is like asking if you you would trade a rusty hammer for a sack of rotten oranges.

Both guys are busts and made of glass.

Why in the hell would the Ravens make this trade? QB is not a position they are set at especially when Troy Smith has a good chance at landing the starting job. What an assanine thread.:bricks:

I agree. No one is trading more then a conditional 7th rounder and two buckets of gatoraide, (the red kind; the one no one likes) for Jackson.

Re: CJackson for TSmith ...

What is your vote?

I do not see CJ making the roster here based upon performance to date. He is a free agent at the end of next season. Barring injury to those higher up on the depth chart, he does not play much this year.

T Smith provides a change of pace QB. Better prospect than Cassell or Guit.

Based off of what? One preseason game?

Listen, Chad Jackson sucks. Okay. Just admit it - embrace it - and move on. I know he;s been injured- blah, blah, blah - but they guy just doesn't get it. He continues to run the wrong routes and miscommunicate with his qb. Enough with Chad. Ciao, Chad. But I do LOL! at anyone that thinks the Pats can get a good draft pick for this guy or a back-up QB ina straight-up trade. He's basically worthless.

Boy, now I hope Jackson blows up this year -- not because it would be of immense benefit to the team -- but so that toolsheds like yourself (whom I would liken to the Maroney detractors last season) can finally STFU.

Apparently, a lot of people didn't watch Troy Smith in the '06 National Championship game. The guy was completely lost once Ginn Jr. went down.

i would explore the option of cjackson for chris simms

Re: CJackson for TSmith ...

hence being made of glass, for all intensive purposes.

Troy Smith eats glass and throws 70 yard laser bombs

After coach/dog killer M.Vick there are few if any guys wanting to develop game plans around the running QB. I think Smith could be decent in the right system, but you cant have a guy like Brady(with completely different skill set)on the same team....for that matter he doesnt fit in Baltimore with Flacco either. Jackson is going to get POPPED real soon and blow something else up.....back to IR and out of the league. The guy cant avoid the big hit, and he will be a red herring to this team as long as they believe in him. Get a bag of balls with him quick before they know what hit them....

Troy Smith has a decent chance to become a good NFL QB. There is one trait he shares with The Best Ever he is a winner (even though Smith is a Buckeye, and Brady is from that school up North).
It would still be ludicrous to trade Jackson at this point at all, much less for a developing QB who wouldn't see the field all year.
Jackson will contribute to us winning the SB a lot more than whoever took his spot, and Smith would not.
